I spent a week at The Flame Tree at the beginning of March (my first-ever trip to Madeira).. From the moment I arrived, all the staff were polite, friendly and helpful (and fluent in English, which was a BIG help to a non-Portuguese-speaker like myself!). Those expecting a lavish and luxurious week of pampering would be better-served elsewhere, but The...

Like a home away from home. Very friendly people run the hotel, the rooms range from cozy/comfy to roomy/spectacular, very good food, beautiful terrace, nice bar and drinks, all in an old house/mansion style place, and VERY good prices. Not right smack in the middle of everything, but only a few minutes away from everything. Quiet and wonderful! I stay...

We stayed here mainly because of the price, but will definitely stay here again - for the charm and the service. It was a lovely hotel (with a great location, as long as you can deal with some hills - but Madeira IS hills) with friendly and personable staff, delicious breakfasts (and a lovely outdoor sitting area, as well as...

Lovely small hotel. on the outskirts of Funchel. We easily walked down hill to the town but returned by taxi, costing 7euro. There is also a bus service which passes the hotel. Details, time table & map can be obtained from reception. Our room with balcony was small but very comfortable and with wonderful views. it was exactly as described....

After staying at a five star resort we entered this hotel with some caution. Located some way out of the centre of Funchal, this hotel was first and foremost so friendly. The staff always can be heard humming, singing and generally being happy. This rubs off. The room we were allocated had the most amazing sea view. They are all...

Considering the price we had not expected much from this hotel but we were very pleased. We were four people staying in two rooms, both of which were reasonably big and seemed fairly newly decorated in a modern style. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful and gave us free use of a small safe in the lobby area....

Delightful establishment. Chose it precisely because it wasn't a posh hotel, it's a small guest house. I sometimes struggle for value as a solo traveller so was ideal. I paid a bit more for a balcony/sea view which I would recommend for anyone. When I arrived, they had upgraded me to a double, so for whatever reason thank you! I've...

A warm welcome from a friendly staff . The food is good and varied with a reasonably priced wine list. A birthday card and wine in the room on my special day just one of the touches that make this hotel a a great place to stay. The bus stop is near by and taxis to Funchal inexpensiv. Will definitely...

This was not quite the hotel we expected but we had no choice but to make the best of it which caused some aggravation at the beginning. 1) the standard room was qute small. 2) the balcony had no view but also was so small that two people could not have sat with any room to move. 3) the room...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review; we always appreciate guest feedback because it helps us improve services for all our guests. We are a small, family run hotel. We do not have kettles, TVs or a large swimming pool, but we pride ourselves on our friendly, personal service, and our excellent, freshly prepared food....
