This is what you can expect and how to make the most of your stay. The welcome is genuine. The help offered by the owners on what to do and where to go was genuine also. They really cared. The hotel however is what it is. Great value with no pretenses. If you want a bar of soap there is...

A small, exceptionally clean and friendly place with amazing views from our balcony where we could see all across Funchal and over to the marina where cruise liners could be seen. Although it's up a hill from the centre of Funchal (which was about 15 minutes walk down to) it's a great way to keep fit (or alternatively, just get...

Beautifully clean, great value hotel with friendly, helpful staff who are always on hand to help with anything you may need. Good and plentiful continental breakfast with cereal, yoghurt, cold meats, boiled eggs, excellent selection of rolls, croissants and cake. Although small, our room was spotless , plenty of hot water in the shower area and good views over the mountains...

This hotel is a value money, hotel. We had room 32, small, but what a lovely view, the Hills one side and a loo with a view of the harbour. Sheets and towels changed every day. They are cotton, white and do the job. The breakfast was continental, but loads, you can really eat well to start your adventure. I...

On a very high hill. Don't start to go up on foot. Nice panorama. Very small rooms. Dirty bedclothes. No heating, no air conditoin. Pipes smell badly. Acceptable breakfast. There are much better and cheaper hotels in Funchal.

The place was great, very comfortable, spotless, accessible, and quiet at night. It is in walking distance of Funchal; although the uphill return is a bit of a drag it's still under 30 minutes walk even if you take a break or two. Beds comfortable and bathroom spacious. The service was awesome, we heard reviews raving about Fabio who brought...

Very good indeed. Spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff. The continental breakfast was excellent, cereals, yoghurt, big bowl of fruit, meat, tomatoes, boiled eggs, delicious rolls, croissants. Ok there is a steep hill but only takes 10 minutes to go to main centre. Taxi from church at bottom of hills 5 euros. Nice sitting area outside and also lounges. Very reasonably priced...

Was not such a nice stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. But room was small and a bit old. TV is very very old...view not so great. Location is far away from things. Takes time to get somewhere. Breakfast is minimum only.

Perfect place to stay for a short stay in Madeira. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and sufficient. Staff friendly and helpful, particularly Fabio. 10 minute walk down to Marina, but 30 minutes back up! All in all very good value.

Okay, yes it is up a very steep hill but if you are reasonably fit you will be fine. We walked up and down this hill everyday, sometimes twice and we are both over sixty. The hotel itself is quiet charming and the manager Fabio is great. He will arrange anything you need, trips etc and is most helpful. He...
