Perfect location to stay. Breakfast very good and different, I especially want to thank Lucas in the restaurant, he is so professional and friendly, Lucas you are amazing! Your organised white dinner is something Wow! Unfortunately food wasn’t good I have to add . and to play some music would make your dinner more special. Despite this deserts were very delicious, we ate all pastel de natas 😂. One really bad thing about hotel is that hotel do not have FIRST AID! My son had an accident! And we were advised go to private hospital ! Which we did! I think customer health care and provide emergency services should be any hotels duties and responsibilities ! Don’t know if your manicure, pedicure or massages are more important than first aid and emergency service. …

good hotel friendly attentive staff

The Golden Residence hotel is just off of the monumental shopping centre. there is a bus stop for number 2 bus both ways just outside reception. I arrived at hotel and was told I had been upgraded from a room to a suite. The suite was to a high standard with refrigerator, microwave, kettle and 2 burner hotplate, cooking utensils and crockery for 3 people. Excellent breakfast included hot or continental. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard. The staff are friendly and attentive in the words of Arnie I will back.…

Summer Break

We had a great time at this hotel. We upgraded our room on arrival to a full sea-view and couldn't recommend these rooms more, if this is what you like, go for C Block any 0021 (There are only 3) The hotel is very peaceful and perfect for a relaxing unwind. It has extensive Spa facilities but we didn't use these. The whole place is spotless and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had bed & breakfast accommodation and the food was also very good with something for everyone in a non-rushed atmosphere. The hotel is situated next to a bus stop for quick and easy travel into Funchal centre but also has many good restaurants, bars and The Forum shopping mall near by. You can book many trips around the island as well as activities from the hotel or nearby vendors.…

Excellent accommodation to a high standard

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived so we headed to the pool area to be met with stunning views! The area was chilled & relaxed & very welcoming. I instantly fell in love with the place. Staff at the pool bar were very friendly & food delicious (we had a burger & chip between 2) When I went to enquire if the room was ready reception staff knew me by name! They helped me take the luggage to the room which was spacious, very clean & overlooked the pool. There was even a small cooking area, microwave & fridge in what I thought was the wardrobe!!There was plenty to choose from at breakfast & food was good , there really was ample selection to suit everyone’s tastes. Cleaning staff were polite & friendly & made our towels in to swans for our anniversary, they also left us a bottle of sparkling wine for both our anniversary & my birthday which was much welcomed. There are plenty of sunbeds at all times of the day, so no manic rush to claim them at 6.30am. WiFi service was good throughout the complex. There are restaurants & a supermarket near by & a walk along the seafront in both directions (although can be a bit hilly). The hotel held a BBQ by the pool on the Thursday which smelt delicious, only problem was you had to book at reception before 3.30pm if you wanted to attend & we had been on a tour of the island that day, not returning until after 4pm (it was also €24 each) …

good hotel with exceptional staff

First stay on the Island - the hotel offers a good standard of accommodation, the location is not ideal if you want to do lots though. Room was a good size and clean. Food was very good for dinner and breakfast with plenty of choice. The main strength of this hotel is the staff- they cannot do more for you or be any friendlier. I especially want to mention - Liliana in the restaurant, Nuno and Igor - they looked after us very well and made the holiday extra special.…

Please allow us just to describe some things that our clients are able to enjoy in our location: - c.5-10min by bus the clients can reach the city center (the clients can buy 1/3/5 days tickets at reception and there is a stop directly in front of the hotel with a public bus every 20min); - c.2min (200m) walking is one of the 3 largest Shooping Center in the island - Forum Madeira; - c.3min (250m) walking distance clients can find some natural swimming pools (extra fee); - c.3min clients can find a promenade along the sea with a lengt of c.3,5Km (50min walking) until next fishing village or c.1,5Km (20min walking) until Lido area - also in the surroundings (2-5 min walking) clients can find restaurants, bars and coffee-shops On behalf of the Golden Residence Hotel team, I hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future. About how far from the centre of Funchal is this hotel. Like to walk into town rather than get a bus or taxi

To walk it would take 45 mins by cab 15 to 20 mins. Taxi is 5euros from the Golden residence. Funchal centre is gorgeous beautiful harbour lovely restraurants
