Pros: - Great location, seconds from the beach - Beautiful view of the sea (if you have a sea-view room) - Great working air-con - Comfortable beds, good basic room - Nice (but very small) sauna + steam room - Friendly staff
Cons: - No patio furniture or chairs on the balcony to enjoy that space - Overall the hotel was looking tired and old - Beach parties are apparently a frequent occurrence during the summer with music until midnight or later (it was so loud it felt like the windows were vibrating) - Shower would cycle from hot to ice old while showering
Overall we had a good time but it's pretty expensive for an old hotel.

There are two types of rooms; Some face the beach, with a balcony and others inland, without any interest. Also, mine didn't have a balcony and the window didn't close. Since they had no maintenance service, I had to spend the whole night with the window open, enduring noise. The food and breakfast, very good.

The hotel has unbeatable views right on the seafront, where there is always a very pleasant breeze...the staff is very nice. The hotel has a somewhat outdated decoration but everything is in very good condition and very clean. The room was very large, and although the sofa bed is a little hard, it had 2 bathrooms and very complete.. overall a good hotel.

When we arrived after more than 1500 km, the room we were offered presented anomalies: - no towels - air conditioning out of service The reception reassures us by replying that the towels will be delivered quickly “problem with the laundry” and that the air conditioning will be quickly repaired… We continue our day and decide to have dinner at the hotel restaurant: HORRIBLE experience!! Only pizzas and charcuterie plates are available, the order is quickly placed…. The pizza arrives, straight out of the freezer, barely garnished and the plate of cold cuts/cheese is borderline edible... The next morning we have to negotiate with the maid to get towels and the reception "finds that the air conditioning cannot be repaired"!!!! In summary our vacation in a hotel that presents itself as a 4 star will be spent without air conditioning and unable to wash for a day!! Over time we realize that the room access cards become demagnetized several times a day.... We are far from 4 star service!! For all these inconveniences, the management offers us to change rooms for a smaller one (with 3 children including 2 twins of 18 months this solution is not serious) or a DERESS discount on the stay of less than 80 euros as well as the horrible meal from the day before free! Obviously all this is not what you expect when you book a vacation in a 4-star establishment!! In conclusion, we are terribly disappointed to have entrusted our vacation to this establishment, and the cherry on the cake, the town of Espinho looks more like a ghost town than a vacation spot!!

What about an Inn which, when you are at the foot of the plane and the latter has just been cancelled due to fire in the country, asks you what time you arrive????? By email of course since on the phone, no one answers! Finally, they keep 100% of the amount of the stay, offer no refund or even a simple deferral. It's lamentable, inadmissible and beneath everything for a so-called 4-star, just tourist hustlers.

It needs to be renovated, at least in the rooms, sanita pouring water, begins to blame the weight of the years. In the pool there were people without touch and there was no employee who went to talk to the ladies and sensitize them to use the touch. The sauna didn't work. I've been there a few times and I notice that it gets worse from year to year.

We were very pleased with our 2-night stay and will return as Espinho we wish to complete the boardwalk which begins close to the hotel to Vila Nova de Gaia. The weekly feira on Mondays is not to be missed. Pros: value for the money (a comparable room with ocean view in the Boston/Cape Cod area in July would easily go for at least 4 times what we paid), proximity to beach, town, and boardwalk, view from balcony, patient and accommodating staff, lovely breakfast, spacious bathroom with full-sized products (shampoo/shower gel/hand lotion) Cons: no air conditioning in lobby, parking is no included in the EXTREMELY reasonable price for and ocean-front hotel

Former 4 stars Hotel doesn't have anymore the standard of them. Today is more a 2 to 3 stars. Positive points: staff friendly and helpful, facing the sea... Negative points: welcome by homeless people just at the carpark of the hotel, décoration from the 70', some fournitures damaged by the time, issues with WiFi connection, TV not working, old aircon not working in some rooms so had to change room, charging for every single time (except the small toileteries)... 4 EUR for a swimming cap, charging for weighting a suitcase. You would expect a bit of freebies but it's not the case...

Positive - indoor pool facing sea. Very good breakfast worthy of the Eurostar chain. Employee sympathy . Localization of hotel.
Negative- very old hotel . In need of many works, old furniture, very old bathrooms... This hotel is very degraded, does not justify very inflated night values.

Very recommended hotel. Great location, spacious rooms (a little old), good cleanliness, good care and friendly staff. Very good breakfast, in a sea view room. Very good SPA, however this time, after 5 days of stay, it was not possible to use it because the water in the pool was quite cold, which is not normal in this hotel, as the SPA has always worked very well. In addition to this, we also had the misfortune of not having bathrobes in the room, as was customary at this hotel. We were told that it was no longer available, but we doubted the answer.

As Stephen said, it's about 30 minutes, to go from Sá Carneiro airport. I advise to take advantage of this hotel's offer of unpaid parking, upon request. Parking outside the hotel premises isn't easy.
There are more places to choose from in the Espinho area.
