Unwanted phone call
Hotel is located close to historical city centre, few minutes walk from the castle or from train station. Room was clear with comfortable bed, bathroom was nice, breakfast quite good. I would give a better raiting for my stay if it wasn't call from the staff at one o'clock at night... The staff asked me if I had parked the car in an unauthorized place...I traveled by train. I haven't slept all night.

Average budget hotel in a good location
This is a typical Ibis hotel. Great location, with easy free parking nearby and 10 min walking to the old town. The inside and the rooms are in need of some sprucing up, the AC didn't work. Good sound proofing and above average staff.

Central location but let down by booking discrepancy
We booked 2 rooms for our family Portugal vacation with this location on Accor website. Terms and Condition states I paid for a Winter Special package which should include breakfast with the room I paid for. As this was a sweet deal in Guimaraes I went ahead to make the reservation. When we checked in after a long day's drive sightseeing we were informed by the front desk we only had rooms and no breakfast. I showed them my photos of the website T&C when I made the reservation stating breakfast included but they stuck their ground. As we were tired we were resigned to the unhappiness and got to the rooms to rest. Next was a shock; room was so small we hardly had space to walk after opening our luggage and there was no electric kettle nor tea/coffee and cups, not asking for bottled water in the room. This added to our unhappiness and we stormed out to the nearby shopping mall for dinner and supplies. Another bad point was when we got out of the lift on the second floor where our rooms were the lift lobby had a strong stench of urine and in the morning when we left there was an additional smell of cigarette smell when this was to be a non-smoking hotel. At least there was a small TV with limited channels, bathroom and a pretty comfortable bed in the room. In the morning I went down to the lobby to ask for hot water so we can make our own coffee(since no breakfast was in order in the actual booking) as we were told the night before when we checked-in that we can do so and the front desk lady was very reluctant to accommodate, as if guests were not entitled or we had to pay for it. We had a similar experience in another ibis in another part of Europe in our previous travel and this other episode may have dealt the final straw with the Accor chain. I'd rather be in Best Western or Holiday Inn when comparing price and standard. After the stay Accor sent an email survey to be filled in but after filling it numerous times the survey was never accepted by Accor but gets rejected. Come on...stop wasting our time and after all the bad feedback do buck up and improve!…

SECOND AND LAS TIME HERE ( Rude-Miss Smile-miss lunges) ??
We been here for 5 nights and we reserved more then 2 week’s and would not stay here again!! On arrival the guy Name: (TIAGO) and he is wearing a glasses, at the reception had a terrible attitude and was not at all welcoming, friendly or helpful. The breakfast staff and bedroom staff were excellent and couldn't have been better. Again the night before our departure we asked the same guy at the reception (who seemed like he was the RECEPTIONIST ) a few questions about what time we should organise to leave !! but today Wednesday night 26/12/2018 I was been in dinner outside!! Then when I’m inter the reception with my Family: my wife and my daughter he look to me like with NON SMILE and he Telling me in english ( YOU MUST BUY WHAT U DRINK FROM THE BAR LAST NIGHT !! ) WITH RELLY RUDE WAY and we still stay tell 4/1/2019 to buy the total drink later we’ve non problem with that .. and again he was very patronising and rude. I can't believe a person with this scornful attitude is working as the front desk dealing with the customers. Other than the bad experience rude with the host !! but than I’ve nice room clean, nice wifi network, and other RECEPTIONIST guy Name: Tiago with green eyes was professional answering ,smiley, and also Ana she work here about 14 years she also help us all time as she can and Carlos been good with me.. in the end I’m not happy with this guy second time in Ibis hotel but last time.…
