We offer traditional Portuguese hospitality in a relaxed, light mood and FAMILIAR way.Guimaraes, the cradle of Portugal, has a MIDDLE AGE HISTORICAL CENTER that is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SINCE 2001, including a 12th Century Castle and a 15th Century Palace.Guimaraes is 2012 EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE, every day we have a big cultural agenda.Guimaraes will be 2013 EUROPEAN CITY OF SPORTS.Our city is famous for traditional Dishes, Wines and Celebrations. Gualterianas festival is 120 years old and Nicolinas date to the 14th century, a giant parade organized by students. Hostel has a fully equipped kitchen for preparing small meals, as well as a common area with computer, free wifi, TV and National Geographic magazines.Around Guimaraes there are several IRON AGE VILLAGES very well kept and our city is a perfect base for exploring PENEDA GERES NATIONAL PARK, a real paradise in Earth.Come, meet Guimaraes and stay with us!! Three nights during heatwave
Comfortable bed, spacious room 2 with private bathroom. Communal loos next door caused excessive plumbing noise. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Beautiful communal kitchen, fully equipped. The old town is a short walk up the hill. Disappointed our room was never made up and no fresh towels or sheets over three night stay.

a great stay at prime hostel
Had 3 fabulous hot nights at hostel prime. It was during recent heatwave so it was pretty hot. Thankfully, the provided us with a fan in our room. We had a spacious double room on the first floor with adequate size bathroom. The host Celia and her work experience staff members were extremely helpful with tips on what to do. August is a Great time to be in Guimaraes!!

Sofia & Co really helped to make this a great soiree in rainy February. An international family atmosphere, sharing well-cooked food & plenty drink - at least one of the Italians & I did the dishes. Thank you much for the hospitality, folks. Guimaraes is the cradle of Portugal, and this old house on the edge of the old town has been lovingly crafted into an atmospheric hostel with modern amenities. Cosy common area with well-equipped kitchen, clean toilets & up up up to comfy enough dorms. "Come, come, come," said the sardine's mum, at his first submarine. "It's only a tin-can of people." (We weren't packed in too tight that night. Just cosily so in Minho inverno. Come-come-come.)

Beautiful and cosy
We stayed a night in Prime Hostel and was great. Close to the historical centre on a quiet street. The building is a beautiful restored antique house. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The staff was very nice. If we come back to Guimaraes we will stay here again!

Great, cozy and friendly hostel
We stay there for 5 days. The booking was totally uncomplicated and perfect service. The rooms are very comfortable and the owners very friendly, helpful, courteous and always approachable . Highly recommended.
