Our flight arrived late thanks to ATC strike in France, checked in around 10 pm efficiently by Carlos, booked 4 nights on points/ cash, stayed with family, now despite early booking and requesting to be allocated higher floor room, we were given room on 1st floor, I suspect because of the points redemption.
The room was over looking the side road, and tbh never heard a street noise day or night, don’t know what noise other reviewers mentioned, despite being in interconnected room , the floor was always quite and we slept very well.
The rooms are very well maintained , clean and modern, small yes but that didn’t bother us as a family of 4.
The breakfast was absolutely the basics but was sufficient. On Saturday morning the breakfast room so busy we had to stand waiting for a free table , only two nice ladies working hard there .
On our third night a guest with a very high IQ decided to ignore the no smoking signs clearly posted and still smoked which triggered the fire alarm 11:30 pm then again 1 am( very clever, right ?) which also triggered the left to not work next morning ( not the hotel mistake) but some guests really senseless.
Duarte checked us out and was very professional.
Bottom line, this is a 3 stars hotel, centrally located, with clean rooms and hot water to shower, don’t expect anything fancy or staff passionately greeting you daily.
All staff we interacted with were helpful.
Remember how much you would save by staying here.
Would stay here again if in Porto .

We arrived and was able to checkin to our hotel room, the front desk team were all amazing and extremely helpful with all of our enquiries sorry I can’t remember all names except Ruiz and Luis. The assisted with maps and directions on how to get around and use the metro which we found very easy to use. The hotel is in between 2 metro stops Bolhao and Trindade.

The rooms was a reasonable size with double bed, TV, desk and chair - not a lot of room but great for a city break to explore. Bathroom was bright with great power shower. Be careful as it’s a new hotel we did get the lock stuck on the bathroom door but eventually it unlocked.

Breakfast was included and offered a reasonable selection of hot drinks, juice & water and then continental breakfast of pastries, fruit, cereals, cold meats & cheese, breads, jams, boiled & scrambled eggs - very good start to the day and great times of service till 10.30am.

Thank you for a pleasant stay and if in Porto again will definitely stay again as great value for money.

This is a well run property in a great location - you can walk to most places in the city. Staff are friendly and efficient - rooms are fine and nicely decorated. It's also very good value. Breakfast looked good but I didn't have time to try as was on an early flight.

The hotel was clean, modern, safe, centrally located, and offered great breakfast. It’s located right off of a shopping district and close to many restaurants within a short walk. I cannot say enough about the staff. Mariana at the front desk made our stay more than amazing. She made great restaurant recommendations, checked us in promptly, and stored our luggage. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were well taken care of. Unfortunately, during our stay, we contracted Covid and had to quarantine in our room for 7 days. Mariana arranged for our Covid testing as a courtesy. The hotel staff was EXTREMELY supportive. They took the proper protocols to ensure that everything was cleaned and sanitized. They safely delivered breakfast to our room most mornings and provided enough food to sustain us through the afternoon and ensured that all of our meal deliveries were safely delivered to our hotel room while maintaining social distance. We will definitely stay at this location each time we visit Porto from now on. We can’t say thank you enough for their service.

I stay in a lot of holiday inn express hotels and have to say this one is right up there with the best

Coming from the airport I found it very easy to find via the metro (aka tram) from the airport to Trindade station which is at the end of the line - from there Google maps got me to hotel on foot within 10 mins. Metro was easy via one day tickets but the machines to buy tickets not so easy - big queues at the airport for tickets but you need a z4 ticket

Location wise is excellent on the main shopping street with plenty of well known brands around and a straight walk down to the river if you want to walk across the bridge. There is another metro station on this street that gets you on to other lines, I’d recommend buying a 24 hr ticket and see where it takes you

Rooms were newest express style and very well maintained, great shower, comfortable bed and pillows, tv with only news channels in English though. Ironing board in every room plus hairdryer and plenty of space for luggage

Staff were really helpful and even though I turned up at 10am expecting to leave bags they checked if room was ready and I was able to leave bags

Id recommend to anyone and will certainly return when in the area again

Location: Fantastic: right on Rua San Katarina, the main shopping street in city center and a walking distance to most sites.

Reception and lobby: check-in smooth, but the lady was no cooperative and blocked all possibilities when we asked to change rooms since she gave us one right in front of the elevator. Lobby is ok and breakfast served daily to all guests is very good value. Ham, cheeses, bread, corn flakes, fruits, pastel de natas, boiled and scrambled eggs, in addition to juices.

Room: twin beds small, and room basic and tight. Bathroom needs a plumber urgently. Water faucet moves around (check photo) and flush keeps leaking water after being pressed. Door lock seemed to have been forced broken (See picture)

To summarize: clean and great location. However, room is very basic and bathroom requires maintenance.

If you think of the Holiday Inn Express as a second rate hotel, well.....this one will probably go beyond your expectations. Everything was first-rate -- bigger rooms than most European hotels, very good breakfast (included), excellent front desk service, and the location was within walking distance to the famous waterfront (although coming back is an uphill experience). We stayed here with a tour group and I probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel on my own, but I am glad that they did.

I stayed on the 5th floor near the end of the hallway mid-July 2022. I specifically booked this hotel as I like the Holiday Inn Express brand and because it stated it had air conditioning. It is true that the lobby has wonderful air conditioning but my room was very hot throughout my 3 day stay. I checked with the front desk staff and each time the temperature in my room was between 23C (73.4F) and 24C (75.2F) with the AC on its lowest setting of 19C. Sleeping was very difficult in the moist heat of the room and each time I checked with the front desk staff they either said that the system takes time or that they couldn't do anything. When I asked to change rooms, the lady told me it wouldn't make a difference which makes me think that this is a problem throughout the building. It really put a damper on my entire visit to Porto.
Otherwise, it is a very basic hotel. Rooms are ok but there is no safe or refrigerator. Breakfast is basic and consistent each day. The shower water temperature fluctuates continuously between the set temp, scalding and freezing holding each temp for only 30-45 seconds.
I would absolutely not stay at this Holiday Inn Express in the future. There are so many better options in Porto for the same or less money.

We booked a room, but we had to stay in a cage!

The so called room had no window you could open, so zero fresh air.
The window was locked due to security reasons and it is impossible to open it even for a bit.
I think for this kind of rooms it should be known from before about this kind of issue - you could be claustrophobic and not support it.
We asked for support, but even if it says on different posters in the hotel that "your hapiness is our duty", they told us nothing can be done and only maybe the second day they could find another room.
The other day, another receptionist said the same thing, and told us that we should have asked again that morning about that.
I totally not recommend that hotel.

PS. The sink got flooded since the first day.

Our room had no window that can be opened, not even for a bit( so 0 fresh air) due to security issues that we totaly understand.
What we could not understand was that they did not bother at all to find a solution for us. We asked to change the room, but the receptionist told us nothing can be done and maybe the next day they will change us the room.
Next day, a different receptionist told us the same story about security law and that we should ask again in the morning
I totally recomand to avoid this hotel.
