We stayed here for 2 nights for my partner's birthday. When we checked in received wonderful service from staff who were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the 5th floor and had a large balcony outside. The room was very clean and tidy and had everything we could have wanted, including a Nespresso machine and some lovely toiletries....

Second stay here and I remain as pleased as my first visit. The exterior of the hotel looks like it may be an abandoned building if not for the friendly doorman ready to open the door and assist. Your first impression of the dark and older period interior may worry you, as might the drape lined dark hallways that light...

Appropriately named, this hotel is makes you feel like a star. The place is dimly lit, however, it's quite emaculate with top notch service and friendly staff. On the first night of our visit we returned to our room to find a tray of rich chocolate dessert and champagne on our bed Wake up for breakfast. They serve just about...

Really mixed opinion of the place - some pluses but overshadowed quite literally by the negatives. Positives - good location, close to Sao Bento, plenty of shops, restaurants, attractions with walking distance. Great breakfast selection - hot and cold, bread and pastry, fruit and fizz. Working out the Nespresso machine was hard work however! Dinner- Tasting menu in the restaurant...

The desk staff is excellent from the routine - maps, sites, restaurant recommendations to non routine - to helping with problems. We found out late our last night that TAP had cancelled rescheduled our home flight a day early and we had missed it. Francis, the night desk manager helped us for over an hour contacting TAP, suggesting alternatives, calling...

Great location and atmosphere/concept, however whether you are a couple of friends traveling or a couple, a bathroom door is essential - unfortunately there was only a curtain ( one could see through) and a clear glass door. This should be addressed by the hotel. It was also a bit noisy from the heavy traffic on the road. On the...

Well we had read the reviews, but everyone's views and opinions are very different!!!! Yes the dark may be unique, theatrical, and atmospheric but!!!! Heaven knows how no one ,walks into glass doors, finds a dropped earring,or plug socket(yes sad lack) What is the theatrical trick with beverages!! Tea in room but no coffee or milk.Only black tea in restaurant!!! Very strange in this...

The theatre theme means that the whole hotel is brown, with brown curtains, dark carpets and stage styled lights. It's interesting and different but after a while, you really just wanted it all to be a bit brighter. That said, the room itself was bright, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great and the breakfast had a good variety...

We were traveling in Portugal with 5 other couples for 3 weeks. We stayed here 2 nights while visiting Porto. It is a unique hotel - having carried on the theme of a theater located at the site 150 years ago. You definitely feel as if you are walking into a theater environment, which "feels" unusual because your mind is...

Great unusual concept for a hotel with great features!! You will be delighted with every corner of this hotels, specially with the bedroom layout... the brightness that lacks in the corridor (part of a backstage magic :) ) you find it in every part of your bedroom with their bright big windows, bathroom walls are also glass where you can...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
