But this is not the case at this hotel, in fact the excellent service of the hotel staff turns it from an ordinary 5-star hotel into an excellent one.
I arrived at the hotel, and there was a problem with the shower, in my opinion it was too small, I went to the reception, I presented the problem to the reception manager Ms. Sofia Ribeino, she explained to me that all the rooms are built similarly, and despite that, after several hours she called me again and moved me to another, more comfortable room. a few days later I encountered a leak in the shower, they did not hesitate and transferred me immediately to the diplomatic suite of the hotel, even though I did not purchase such or a similar room, which means that the hotel staff obviously goes out of their way to help guests. The hotel's bar is really nice, they broadcast football games there and the staff there are also lovely, they help in everything, they explained about the wine, and the food was also excellent. I would like to mention Mr Nuno and Mr Tiago, whom I got to know during my stay and who are a small example of the type of people you will meet at the hotel, and also later when you take a trip around the city.
The rooms in the hotel are big enough and very comfortable, the bed is comfortable and not stiff, the room has everything you need for a short stay, the hotel is not new but seems to have been renovated.
There was only one problem, and that was that they didn't come to clean my room twice (i was there 6 days) , but you can contact the reception and they will send you a cleaning team.
The hotel is in a relatively central place, although not quite right in the center of Porto, yet it is located in a very nice neighborhood and the Uber prices are relatively cheap.
Near the hotel there are several restaurants (including the hotel's excellent restaurant) and a huge supermarket that is open 7 days a week.
It is likely that when I return to Porto I will return to this hotel.
The hotel is out if the main touristic areas in the financial area and a little walk to the metro station but Ubers and bolt is cheap and worth it.
The breakfast was great, the spa good, a huge shout out to Marcelo and the ladies at the front desk for their in depth knowledge recommendations of things to do, places to eat and see in Porto! This is something rare now a days!
Thank you .....
The room was very spacious, the bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Breakfast also very good. Regarding the location of the hotel, it is not in the center but there is no problem getting around the city, for us the best option was Uber, about 5 euros to the areas of interest.

The room was dated , but clean. The bed was very hard. Pillows are a mix of too soft & firm. Towels felt like sand paper, needs to purchase new ones. The bed was white & crisp. The tile in the bathroom was cracked , and moved when you walked in it . (Room 509).
Breakfast buffet has many choices. Do not ask for an omelette, you will get a well done outside, and watery inside . 😩.
I did complain about the bed, front desk advised they will let housekeeping know, and they may be able to help. Nothing happened.
Crown plaza, lost its crown. Basically It’s a Poor Holiday Inn. 🤷♀️
Booking and subsequent accounting and settlement has proved to be a complete disaster. Even one week after the stay, several rounds of contact up to the manager was/are not able to issue a correct invoice and make a correct debit from the correct credit cards. Last but not least, I was also charged the city tax for tourists, although I was on duty as a participant of a congress at the hotel on site.
A travel experience that I - and also an involved assistant with many years of experience in the hotel sector - do not need again.
Employee wanting to teach how to place cutlery 😂😂.
Head of the room, I suppose, without being asked anything like "what's here is all to eat", without an answer, because there are situations where ignoring is the best medicine.
As for the variety, there is nothing special, quiches, fried foods, puff pastries, worthy of a positive note, preguinhos and smoked salmon. Main course, vegetable lasagna that was melted cheese, as for the advertised suckling pig belly, but it was an old suckling pig, it was dry and without any kind of refinement.
Drinks available included in the €35, water, lemonade and orangeade, we had to order a bottle of wine because not even the children were fans of drinks. Desserts, tasty French toast, and the remaining sweets were of average quality.
From a group of 11 people, a disappointment on the whole.

The hotel is new and well maintained, with its huge lobby and pleasant rooms as well as a very large breakfast room.

The breakfasts simply have everything you can imagine and you will never see that something is finished, incredible service.
The only thing is that at the end of the bill that we added the parking, they did not explain it completely well and we got a surprise of €50 when the parking was theoretically €19 per day. And there were 2 days of parking.

The breakfast options are many and varied, a really good start to your day and we found that poached eggs are available on request which we prefer to fried or mass prepared scrambled.
One thing I must comment on is the staff here, all were helpful, smiley and very customer focused.
Thank you for a great stay.
1. Nice modern room décor with good closet
2. Modern stylish washroom with travel size lotions, soap, Kleenex etc.
3. About a 10 min walk from a subway. I think it was called casa da Musica station.
4. Large restaurant area with full breakfast – staff coming around offering coffee or tea
5. In general, comfortable. I must admit – I didn’t spend a lot of time in the actual hotel, since Porto is such an incredible city!
What could be improved/didn’t like:
1. We went to reception to ask for a map. For some reason, instead of attending to us, he decided to help his co-worker answer questions for another person on our tour. I didn’t think his co-worker needed help, she seemed to be doing fine. When we finally got his attention. He looked at us with a blank face and didn’t even say ‘hello’. We asked for a map, and he gave it to us without saying a word. Then, we asked for directions. He opened the map and pointed to the place without saying a word. Then he circled the location on the map. I found it interesting that he became a “mute” when it was clear he could speak English 5 seconds ago. After this mute behaviour, we called down to reception with any questions to force him to speak. If it wasn’t for this unfriendly and completely unprofessional behaviour, I would have given this hotel a 4 versus 3.
