Perhaps it is just us, but the hotel does not fit our taste. I do like places which are classic, but the dark corridors, velvet upholstery and the other antique furnishings are too heavy for us. The breakfast is very nice though. Staff helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking. Depending on how much walking you prefer, the hotel is a...

Let me start by saying that this is a historical place (castle) and with wonderful grounds, gardens, etc. the Portuguese tile of the buildings is awesome. The staff is absolutely friendly and ready to help. The old part, where we stayed was beautiful and elegant. Also very important since we traveled by car is that there is free parking on...

We stayed at he Castelo de Santa Catarina for three nights. It is a beautiful building with lots of crystal chandeliers, carved wooden paneling, painted tile, and antique furniture. The bathroom was beautiful with Portugese time and nice bath products. The grounds are lovely. The breakfast was very nice. There is good parking at the hotel. There is a Metro...

We walked from the metro, a little way out of the centre and up an incline. I felt a bit apprenhensive walking along the street at what to expect but as you approach the hotel and turn the corner you're transported into another world! The grounds were so pretty and there were so many ornate features to take in. Our...

We love this out-of-the-mainstream hotel, which is a converted old personal palace in center of old Porto. The gardens are beautiful, and the building full of those beautiful Portuguese tiles, called azulejos, inside and out! Service was impeccable, and the feel of the building was as if we were friends of a royal family. Gated on-site parking was a plus....

The location of the hotel means a 20 minute walk to the main tourist attractions; for us that was a big plus as we were in and around people living and working in Porto (rather than being in the tourist bubble) and with good transport links to the rest of the city. The hotel itself friendly and helpful staff and...

We had a great time at the Castelo and Joao, the owner, was a really kind and helpful host with suggestions for things to do and the best ways to get around town. The hotel is a bit outside the center, an easy walk down, an energetic hike up, but the metro stop is not far away and cabs are...

The place is an old villa/city palace and the surroundings seem to be a bit shady. Interiors are antique unless you book a room in the annex. Limited parking. Subway in walking distance. No elevator/aircon in the main building due to conservation issues. If you stay there, book a room in the old building anyway, it´s really charming.

The hotel is very special, used to be castle, it is in quite area, clean, and very rustic. The staff is very friendly, and their breakfast was unique, in a special castle room. The breakfast was good but standard for European breakfast. The room is just about fine, small but cosy. I liked the hotel, but it is a one...

This is a great hotel - close to the Metro, beautiful views from the room (we stayed in room 141 in the tower), an adorable cat who hangs around the property, beautiful decor, decent breakfast and friendly staff. I subtracted one star because the bed in our room was uncomfortably small and the room had no safe. Overall, though, this...
