The hotel staff was unbelievably helpful. We arrived early for our reservations after 3 weeks on safari we were exhausted. They so quickly checked is in and allowed us to get to our room for some much needed rest. The concierge Jeremy helped us with several things including a Louvre guide and a perfect car tour of the sites. The car tour was planned to the second with arrival to our restaurant perfectly timed. He was beyond helpful and patient. Having stayed at high end hotels and with a lot of experience with concierges, he was most memorable with his efficiency and excellent listening skills to provide us with the beat possible evening. He was amazing. We were traveling with our 82 year old father and they catered to his every need with absolute patience and kindness. All of the staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. We had limited noise and perfect services. Prime location very close to the Louvre, actually closer than their description indicates. It was a really perfect ending to our exhausting trip.

We stayed here just the one night before boarding our riverboat cruise, the Hotel is dated and tatty in areas, but seeing some of the successful restoration projects that are going on in the heart of porto the hotel couldonce more be very beautiful, with a little TLC We arrived early, 8 am in the morning, the stoney faced lady on reception refused to give us access to our room, despite the hotel being practically empty, so after a long journey and feeling very tired we had to wait 6 hours and in my opinion thats just not good enough, I very much doubt we will return, to Porto yes, but not this particular hotel

The hotel is in a fantastic location for access to tourist and local transport system being just a 5 minute walk from Praça da Liberdade where the tourist hop on off buses start and finish. The ticket kiosk is also in this square. The Hotel itself had a lovely Art Deco feel to it with reminders that it was once a very Grand place. The Housekeeping staff do a fantastic job keeping it clean and rooms were cleaned daily. The Reception staff were friendly and attentive and in late evening doubled up as Bar staff as well. They were as with most Portuguese people we met friendly, helpful and courteous. The hotel would benefit from a general spruce up but for what we paid it is a great hotel and location. Breakfast is served from 6:30am until 12:00 so no need to rush or worry about over sleeping.

Hotel in good location for visiting sites around Porto. Hotel now looks a little dated, and could do with a makeover. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Nice touch bottle of water each day. Towels and shower gel replaced each day. Checking in and out, straight forward. Excellent staff.

I won’t bore you with pictures of moldy bathrooms. Yes, I can confirm the place needs a major thorough cleaning of the bathrooms. According to the staff there are plans for that. If you are fascinated by historic old buildings, stay here, you’ll love it. I think it was built in 1877, oldest hotel in Porto. Walking around the hotel is amazing, it survived two world wars, I imagine all the people that admired it over the years. Such a beautiful place. Location is also perfect. I’m confused by the reviews of others complaining about the street noise. When you stay in a major city, in any country, there isn’t much the hotel staff can do about outside street noise. Try some earplugs and a sleep sound app. I didn’t eat the breakfast. I didn’t go all the way to Porto to eat in a hotel, I went out.
