Very cute and homey hostel in the heart of Porto! Has a little backyard garden with 2 adorable turtles. One of the cleanest hostels I've stayed at and the staff will bend over backwards to help you. Keep being awesome, Miguel!! Definitely wanna come back.

The staff here were very nice when we arrived and the woman at the front pretty much mapped out our day (we only had 1) which was helpful. Beds were comfortable and the sheets were super clean. The room was ginormous for 8 people and had this huge cushion in the middle. The door is pretty thin and some guests...

I had such a wonderful stay. Miguel is amazing. His humour and wit kept us in stitches. I only knew him for a few days, yet he made us feel at home. The hostel has a fabulous set up, great location and is very relaxing. Highly recommended. Thank you.

I have travelled all over Europe, and I think Garden House is one of the cleanest, and nicest decorated I have come across. Our room was spotless, bed was comfortable, and the shower and toilet facilities were spotless too. There is a garden patio area which was a lovely place to sit whilst having breakfast (which is included with the...

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed with - the location is very central, fantastic people work there, the rooms (both sleeping and communal) are so open and airy, and great kitchen facilities. The staff is helpful and give great suggestions (beaches, sunset points, etc). I met a wonderful group of travelers here that I am happy to call...

This hostel has everything you need, and for a small price provides good value. I was in the 8-bedroom room and it had a lot of space, so it didn't seem crowded even though it was full. Beds are comfortable and big,and each has it's own locker which is a plus. Staff was nice and really friendly and they answered...

My sister and I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights during a week's visit to Portugal. Overall the hostel was really good, I emailed them a couple of times with questions before we visited and their response was prompt and useful. During our stay the hostel staff were very helpful and friendly, giving us answers to questions about transport...

Free breakfast and coffee, two outlets let bed, friendly staff and owners (especially Joanna and Miguel) and clean facilities at a reasonable price. I'd stay here again. Oh and it comes with a locked locker.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Garden House Hostel is a new hostel in Oporto. Located in the heart of the old city, in the famous Rua de Santa Catarina, a pedestrian street where you can feel the Oporto essence, visit a wide range of restaurants, shops and cafes, as the well known "Cafe Majestic", an Art Nouveau icon where artists and intellectuals meet for a "cimbalino" (expresso). Also within walking distance are all the museums, Port wine cellars, the Douro River and the cool Oporto nightlife. After a day of walking and sightseeing, nothing feels better than returning to the beautiful 19th century house where the Garden House Hostel is installed. The building has been fully restored and improved, with all the modern commodities, and has a wonderful garden where you can relax, have a glass of wine, read a book... feel at home in a cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere! From the Hostel you can catch the riverside tram to the sea and the beaches at "Foz". With its restaurants, bars and promenade, you can enjoy the sun in one of the iconic places of Oporto. In the summer don't forget to pack your sunscreen and beach towel! ... more   less
