This hotel is all about its location. It is situated right on a long unspoiled sandy beach. Don't expect parasols and sun beds but the beach is kept clean by harvesting the seaweed for fertiliser. The approach to the hotel is through an agricultural area with lots of small holdings. Not particularly pretty but interesting nevertheless. The hotel is not... More

This hotel is situated about 10-15 minutes drive from the centre of Povoa de Varzim, Unless you are part of a group you would really need a car to stay here. There is a bus that runs every half an hour into town from the roundabout which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is only one restaurant... More

We first visited this hotel 16 years ago and in total have visited 3 times now. Our last visit in October 2016 was just as good as when we first visited. The view over the sea is awesome. Listening to the sea at night sends you to sleep. The rooms are clean, staff are great from the time I booked... More

I arrived at this hotel and initially my heart sank. It looked externally in need of some TLC. However my room was large, light with extremely comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. It had a mini bar and the balcony was furnished with small table and chairs. The main selling point of this hotel is the staff. They are all so... More

My wife and I stayed here for a week on a Newmarket package holiday. It was a relatively cheap holiday, and we had no great expectations, so were not too disappointed. When the hotel was built 30 or 40 years ago it was probably very nice but sadly it has not been updated since. On the plus side the pool... More

We booked this hotel through the Internet because of its location. This was the primary determinant for our decision. We were not disappointed. The location was perfect. isolated by itself, directly by the beach with a big swimming pool, but only 2 minutes walk to the next village and a few minutes drive to Povoa di Varzim. perfect. The hotel... More

This hotel is comfortable, staff very attentive. The food was food, Portuguese evening very interesting. Hotel right on the beach, must be wonderful in the summer although I would think for swimmers only as there were great waves at the time. Swimming pool

If you are looking for a place to totally relax right on the beach this is it. Whilst it is a little tired around the edges it is spotlessly clean and the location helps you forgive the datedness of the rooms. We had a suite overlooking the sea, the bed was huge and very comfortable and we had a full... More

We travelled independently to the St Andre after doing research about the hotel & location. The fact that it is quite isolated is well documented & one of the reasons we booked. (Walking - 5 mins to nearest restaurant,10 mins to bus, 15 mins to nearest shop, but all easily accessible). No tourist traps, no MacDonalds - lovely ! Hotel... More
