Amazing stay! Great house close to Viana do Castelo with a lot of history and a charming family. Clearly "the" place to stay in Vianca do Castelo! Very nice rooms and pool, the old house where the familly stays is spectacular! Look forward to come again!

This is a family run hotel. They live in the beautiful main building and have converted other buildings on the expansive grounds to a hotel. The grounds are huge and walled in from the outside - beautiful and nice to explore. We had been told it is a bit far from the historical town center, but it was just a...

Casa do Ameal (or Quinta do Ameal) is a charming, unique small hotel with glorious gardens and buildings. The rooms are lovely stone cottages set amongst grape arbours, walnut and citrus trees. The swimming pool and table tennis provided welcome activities for our child, and we enjoyed picnic meals outside our room at the stone tables provided. With a car,...

Casa do Ameal is a precious jewel hidden in the outskirts of Viana do Castelo. Wonderful apartments, nice pool area, great breakfast, everything extremely clean, and, most importantly, fantastic hospitality. Easy walk into the wonderful old town. A supermarket next door, terribly convenient. Highly recommended.

We had a very pleasant 4days-stay with our two children in one of the family rooms (two bedrooms, kitchen corner, sitting room). The cleanliness is impressive, all towels and sheet are changed daily, the rooms are spotless clean. The quietness of the rooms and gardens as well as the swimming pool give you the impression to be in the middle...

The hosts of Casa do Ameal provided us charming accommodations during the week my husband, 8-year old daughter and I stayed there. Isabel manages the estate for her elderly in-laws who live in the manor house. She was wonderful about taking care of our needs and special requests. She upgraded us to a larger apartment than we had booked because...

This is an incredible property in a beautiful area. You expect it to be noisy, just off the main road into Viana, but it is actually very peaceful. The rooms are charming and with the added bonus of a small kitchenette. However, the big disappointment was the beds; a very firm mattress on a sheet of chipboard made for an...

A group of Finnish painters visited Casa do Ameal in June 2009. We found the place excellent! The traditional surroundings were great: old, well-cared houses, large green garden full of trees and flowers. Rooms in Casa do Ameal are of different sizes: the biggest appartments have two bedrooms, large living room and kitchenett; the smallest one has a double bed...
