Nestled on a picturesque beachfront, COCOS Hotel Antigua captivates many guests with its stunning sea views and rustic charm. The cleanliness of the hotel earns high marks, with travelers highlighting the spotless beaches and well-kept grounds. While most guests applaud the service and intimate atmosphere, there are mixed feelings about the evening entertainment and room amenities. The rooms offer privacy and scenic views, though some note maintenance could be improved. While regarded as a good value overall, a few guests consider the pricing steep.

This was our first trip to Antigua since our honeymoon 25 years ago, and it didn't disappoint! Cocos was totally different to the fairly soulless experience we'd had at Sandals back then, with a much more authentic, relaxed, friendly and luxurious experience. On arrival there was an issue with the aircon in our room which caused a slight delay, but Kris the manager handled it brilliantly, saying how disappointed they were that we hadn't had a great first impression of the hotel, but keeping us informed throughout, he also gave us a nice freebie later in the week to make up for it.

The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, a selection of chalets built on a hillside between two stunning and quiet beaches, not overdeveloped at all. Some of the rooms are up quite a steep slope so unsuitable for the elderly or disabled, but had great privacy and lovely views. We loved the outdoor showers and hammock on our balcony.

The food was very good quality and varied, with a definite caribbean feel - the jerk chicken was amazing! There was also plentiful wine with meals and tropical cocktails. The beach bar and restaurant were also good, our only slight complaint was that there weren't enough towels available sometimes.

The evening entertainment each night was great, and we loved that everyone in the hotel gathered there, so it was sociable and great for meeting people and making friends, we had great fun with a few other couples who were staying there the same time as us.

I was concerned in advance about getting bitten as I had read about mosquitos, sand flies and fire ants! But the hotel provided room and personal sprays at no cost, you don't need to bring them with you, and they were very effective, we hardly had any bites all week.

Overall we felt that our trip was great value (booked direct with the VIP discount) for such a prime location and to include great food and drink, and we would definitely recommend, we'll be back next year for sure!

Hi ahmurray, To know that we were able to turn your experience around is simply amazing, especially after 25 years. The towels have been replenished, and more has been added to avoid anyone going without whilst on the beach. We thank you for your feedback here and are happy you loved the outdoor showers and jerk chicken. Yes, the hills can be a bit of a challenge, but once you see the lovely views and great privacy, all of the challenge fades away. We do provide sprays along with our misting system to keep mosquitoes and other bugs at bay and are pleased to know that it helped you. Thank you so much for understanding and for visiting. We're excited to know that you won't wait another 25 years to revisit, and until then, do take care. Best Regards,

We recently stayed at Coco’s Hotel to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary the location of this resort is absolutely outstanding. Yes, its hill but you know that when your book so doesn’t be surprised.

And I will say are say exceeded our expectations

As a slightly older couple who have slight mobility issue (Husband has a cane), we did find the hill slightly difficult at times. We booked a Premium view cottage and were given one of the highest in the resort Room 20 views where amazing. But once Kris the Duty manager was made aware of this, he moved us immediately. Don’t be put off by the hill as I said we managed perfectly well.

Food at the hotel is fantastic with different specials every morning and night, my only comment would be lunch can be a bit repetitive, maybe have an alternative menu every other day.

The staff at the hotel can’t do enough for you they go above and beyond. Anisha (sorry if that is spelt wrong) would greet us at breakfast every morning with a smile and knew what we wanted to drink by day two. And knew what we want for breakfast most morning by day 4. One of the ladies on reception even when out of her way to get me some Stamps on her morning off and brought them to work with her on her next shift. But all the staff are very friendly and helpfully. The housekeeping staff took great attention to every detail. Gardens are kept looking lovely.

Rooms are rustic, some could do with a little bit of TLC views are excellent as are the in-room amenities.

Both beaches are lovely but we did find the venders on Valley church beach a bit pushy. So spent most of our time on Jolly Beach. Pool is nice but could also do with a slight upgrade.

The proof of a great hotel is would I go back and the answer to that is yes in a heartbeat.

Hi juliecA3734GE, We will say this has definitely exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much for staying with us, and we're so happy that you enjoyed room 20 even though it was so much higher up than the others. But as you experienced, the views are amazing.  Our staff are the number one reason why people come back, and the names you've listed have guaranteed your revisit as well. We appreciated your suggestions with the menu and the TLC of our amenities.  Thank you for taking the time to pen this review. We will take great care of the bit you left behind until you return.  Take care.  Best Regards,

Lucky to have 2 weeks at Coco's and our 9th visit, it never fails to impress. The location is stunning with 2 lovely sand beaches and sea the colour of pale turquoise. Sunbeds on both beaches and beach towels supplied.
The chalets are dotted up a steep hillside with lush vegetation providing shade and privacy. The rooms are rustic but that is part of the Caribbean charm. They are kept spotless on a daily basis and the beds are extremely comfortable. The food was plentiful, tasty and beautifully presented . Nightly entertainment was good and gave a chance to get to know other guests.
Above all, it's the staff that make the hotel extra special. They are kind, friendly and service is so personal you feel like part of the family. A special thanks to Kris for all his help and a big thank you to all the Coco's team for making us feel so welcome. Already looking at dates for next year.

We went here for my wife’s 50th Birthday. I communicated with the hotel well in advance of the arrival. There were no airport pickups which is surprising for a 5 star hotel, there should be transfers to and from for the price of the hotel. Night one I was sitting by the plunge pool and got destroyed by bugs to the point both my ankles and legs were bitten hundreds of times. On my wife’s birthday I planned massages in the morning and then asked them to decorate the room put a cake and bottle of dom in the room for our return. When we returned to the room there was a disgusting looking cake with wrap over it and no knife or forks or plates to eat it, the champagne I paid $450 was sitting on the nightstand warm, no ice, no ice bucket, no glasses to drink it. It was an epic super expensive fail. I brought the champagne to the bar to have them put it on ice and when it was finally cold 2 hours later it was bad, to their credit they delivered another bottle that was good but still not cold we waited a while to chill it before we could drink it. The people were very nice, some of the waitresses were amazing and fun. I can’t really understand how wrong this went and how much money I paid for it. The food was mediocre at best, not 5 star food, the liquor options were not premium quite the opposite. This vacation my wife’s 50th was the most expensive disaster possible. We travel a lot all over the world and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone ever.

Dear Ed L, Thank you for taking the time to pen this review; we're saddened that you weren't able to fully enjoy the time with us and would like to address some of the concerns you had. As our airport is fairly small and taxis are easily obtained as soon as you exit the airport, private transfers or shuttles can be accommodated upon request. Mosquitoes and bugs are a part of the natural charm, but we do provide insect repellent in the rooms and also have a weekly fogging plan to help alleviate some of their discomfort. However, if these measures are still to no avail, then we can try creams or oils. The arrangements for your wife's birthday should have had better oversight, as it was a special occasion, and we're thankful to be a part of it. I'm glad that another bottle was offered and sincerely apologize that it wasn't properly presented the first time around. We would love to hear your feedback on how we could've improved the food and liquor options if you have the time to reach out to our reservations team. We hope you will allow us the opportunity to change your mind on the recommendation by revisiting us. Do take care. Best Regards,

I’ve never written a review for any place we have traveled to but Cocos deserved getting a review. We researched numerous islands and resorts to celebrate our 15th anniversary and fell in love with Cocos based on their site/pictures and it did not disappoint.

We had a sunset pool cottage with a private plunge pool and the views are even better in person. It was great to have the pool and hang on the patio when wanted to take a break from the beach.

Speaking of the beaches, both immaculate beaches with crystal clear water to just relax and float the day away. The Valley Church beach, one on the left side of the resort, has a grill and bar steps from the beach. We had lunch and dinner several days at the grill, the food was that good, on days that we just wanted to soak up the beach and plunge pool.

The main restaurant serves all 3 meals per day and all are amazing. Daily specials for breakfast and lunch along with a fish, chicken, beef and veggie option for dinner every night. Great appetizers, desserts and any drink you want available from the bar.

But what made our stay was the service and attention to detail from their staff. A few days before arrival they ask you what drinks you’d like stocked daily in your room, if you need any dietary or food allergies accommodated. I have several food allergies and they were great about them. The staff gets to know you on a personal level and remembers your orders or preferences which made it feel like being home.

The front desk can arrange almost anything you need; taxis, excursions, recommendations. We asked Jenelle if they offered any hiking excursions and within 5 minutes I was on the phone picking a day for them to come pick us up.

We had eagerly anticipated this trip and thanks to the Cocos team, it’s one we’ll now remember forever. Too many people to thank but special kudos to; Anisha, Kerry Ann, Kerry, Jenelle, Steven, Avisha, Steven, the chef from the sunset grill (will miss hearing him go “ping ping” to let the staff know order was ready).

If you’re looking for a resort to relax and reconnect with your significant other in a beautiful quiet setting please look no further. We’re sad to be leaving today but hopefully will be back one day.

Sincerely,
George & Nicole (Cottage 42)

Just 35 rooms in this adults only resort mean that you never feel crowded or need to rush to get the best table in the restaurant. And, talking of which, the food was fantastic and, if you really enjoyed a dish, you could request more and more would be served!!! The service is a la carte for all three meals of the day so you don't have to worry that the buffet has become rather warm (as in many other all inclusive hotels...

The accommodation is spread out so you are not next door to your neighbours, so much so that all of the showers are in the open air which is a fantastic feeling.

Best of all, the staff are so welcoming and helpful - nothing is too much trouble!

Just one point - because this is a countryside setting the noise from the tree frogs at night can be rather loud. However, from other accounts, any hotel in Antigua (and many other places in the Caribbean), in the country or in town, has the same issue - the frogs were here before the holidaymakers... Ear plugs are a useful addition to your suitcase.

We had a fantastic stay at Coco’s over New Year, the staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food is exceptional.

The only reason I haven’t given Coco’s a 5 Star review is because I think there is a really thin line between ‘rustic’ and ‘tired’ and sadly in a few areas the hotel is looking tired rather than rustic.

Lots of temporary repairs and patch ups (here they haven’t even bothered to stain the wood to make it blend in!, outside lights that don’t work and sadly the rooms whilst being in stunning locations need some love and attention. (Doors that don’t lock, walls that are marked and scratched, shrubbery overgrown and privacy fences between cottages with numerous holes.

It would have been nice to have a managers cocktail evening or a chance to engage with the management to give feedback as we felt a lot of things that got feedback to reception don’t seem to go any further or be acted upon.

We had some concerns around a new set of steps installed leading down to one of the beaches that wasn’t secure or level, reception assured us they would get them looked at. It never happened. Same with concerns around the hotel pool and the cleanliness of it, various guest we met avoided the pool due to the sheer amount of debri in the bottom of the pool which was left untouched for days.

Would we return? Absolutely. I just hope at some stage the management consider some much needed upgrades to get the place back to its former glories.

Hi GOSBTS22, This is a fantastic read, but we would have loved to have been able to provide you with the five-star experience you're familiar with.  We would like to assure you that the feedback received at the reception is funneled to upper management and is then actioned accordingly. We are continuously repairing the accommodations during the high season, and during the low season we can then close out for a complete renovation. We have secured the stair leading to Jolly Beach, but due to the high tides, we've rerouted to the other side of the bar for safer access. Thank you for the feedback on the main pool; we will ensure that the cleaning schedule is adhered to more strictly.  We're glad to know that you will return, as we would love to show you the improvements we're making towards your experience.  Best Regards,

We had a wonderful stay at Cocos. Every single person who worked there went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Our bay view room was so nice. It had a spectacular view and a gorgeous infinity pool that we enjoyed most afternoons.
The food was very good (could have used a little more spiciness for our taste). A little disappointing that other than one day the lunch menu was the same all week. But we managed. Lol. The drinks were great! Top shelf alcohol and skilled bartenders. We LOVED the fresh squeezed juices every day!!
The music at night was a little loud for a romantic resort. The musicians would have been fine solo, without a mix machine that just thumped bass. The music ends promptly at 10:00 which is totally acceptable, just a little loud for someone with noise sensitivity.
Plenty of chairs on both beaches, no need to save. We loved Valley Church Beach! So pretty. The combination of the mountains and the ocean is breathtaking!

Cocos Hotel's best asset are their staff. It is a very laid back, all inclusive resort with only 50 rooms and is adults only. There was a big age range from young couples to more mature couples and all in between. Not a resort to go to if mobility is a problem, or if you want entertaining all the time. The food is excellent and is table service (no buffet in sight). The rooms are quirky 'luxury sheds' on stilts built into the hillside, they are furnished in a rustic style and have all you need (apart from a make-up mirror and a full length mirror). The outdoor shower was great. The bed we had was comfortable, there was a nice large chest of drawers and plenty of hangers provided in the wardrobe. A mini bar and tea and coffee facilities in the room. The veranda was large with adirondack chairs (which are not the most comfortable) and a hammock, we would have preferred loungers. Two lovely clean beaches with beach bars, we preferred Jolly Beach as it was easier to get in an out of the sea. The entertainment at night was sometimes better than others, but this is not a resort to go to for party nights. If you need to keep in touch with email the Wifi can be very patchy.

We stayed at Cocobay last year and decided to give Cocos a chance: first impressions, very friendly staff.
We stayed in cottage #21, up and down the hill. It was probably one of the farthest cottages, and at 67, I felt the hike. We knew about the hike to and from the rooms to the beach.
*. The room: It was larger than I expected. It had an outdoor shower, which was so cool, especially when you saw and heard the tree frogs.
*. The bathroom was large but warm, especially when using the hair dryer.
*. The view from there was stunning, except when you looked to the right and saw another cottage that needed repairs and a paint job. Then you looked down and saw a hut covered in tree debris. I took photos and brought this to the front desk's attention. She said she would inform upper management, but that was the last I heard.
*. There were two beaches; we preferred the first beach as it was quiet and private.
* The food was terrific, from homemade soups to banana mashed potatoes.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay except for the cottage view, and the cottage was looking tired.
I would go back there again for sure!
Upper Management needs to listen to their guests and maintain the cottages.
