I recently returned from a week’s holiday at the Penelope – not my first visit to this private family-run hotel, and it certainly won’t be my last./

The hotel has twin/double rooms and a few studio apartments (if you prefer self-catering). Balconies have tables and chairs with pool or garden views. All rooms are very clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, and the good-sized bathrooms contain glass shower cubicles. There are fridges, coffee/tea making facilities and safes in every room. All rooms have satellite TV and wi-fi is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel’s pool is not large, but a good enough size for swimming, and there are plenty of sun loungers and an honesty pool bar. A very short walk away you will find small coves for private bathing. Many of the tavernas dotted along the coast (and again within walking distance) offer sunbeds and parasols for use by customers.

Breakfast is buffet-style, with a great choice of hot and cold food. Kostas (the owner) prides himself on customer service, and will do his very best to accommodate dietary requirements. The family also own a local taverna (Boukari Beach) which is within walking distance, although transport can be arranged (there and back) if you wish, and at no charge. The food at the restaurant is very good, with a selection of traditional Greek dishes alongside fresh fish plates (I particularly enjoyed the prawn ravioli this year).

On the subject of Kostas, I have stayed at the hotel for over 20 years and watched it grow. Kostas has spent time visiting other hotels in Europe and has incorporated many amenities that he found during his fact-finding visits, with the result that this small family hotel has many features only seen in larger hotels.

Thank you Kostas for making my stay an enjoyable one, and see you again next year, if not before!

Extremely good budget hotel - friendly staff, great location, lovely pool, very clean. But the bathroom fittings are a little old and wonky so - for example - you have to hold the shower head in place, and it was obviously not something that could be fixed, it was just work out. Each room has its own hot water cylinder which you need to switch on but the heat and pressure are excellent. And you get sheets and blankets on the beds, no duvet. Air con is excellent though. So if you’re looking for an opulent room then pay more and get one. For a base for exploring this beautiful island you will not get better at this price.

My Wife & I had a wonderful week at the hotel Penelope in mid April 2024, a 16 room family run hotel in Boukari right on the coast, a beautiful location. The owner Kostas is a big friendly guy with an even bigger personality & he can't do enough to help with any needs you have. We stayed B&B but also had evening meals on some nights & the food was very good. A perfect location for rest & relaxation.

We stayed at the Penelope Hotel for 4 nights. Kostas and his family run the hotel as well as the Boukari Beach Taverna which is a leisurely 10 min walk along the coastal path - well worth a visit!

The hotel itself is simple and good value. We had a studio room which included a fridge, cooking facilities and a bit more room than the standard rooms. The hotel has a pool which was great for a cooling dip after a day exploring the South of Corfu. There is also some great walking to be done directly from the hotel. We walked to Petriti & Notos Beach and enjoyed a lovely lunch one day. On another we followed a steep path all the way up to Chlomos which is a beautiful village with the most amazing views of the coast and beyond.

Most all of it is Kostas and his staff that really make this hotel what it is. Nothing is ever too much for them. Kostas was a great source of information and guidance. He also has cars & bikes to rent and knows just about anything you need to know.

Thank you Kostas for a really great few days.

The owner Kostos is very hospitable and can see to all your requirements.
Advise you to book directly and hire a car when required as the airport car hire is very expensive. Book the car hire with Kostos ahead of time.

Recommend eating at the family seafood restaurant that is 800metres up the coast. We had delicious fresh seafood there every night.

Room is basic. Area is lovely. Breakfast is not impressive.

So, after a family tradegy, I needed to get away, by myself, to relax and recharge my mind, body and spirit. I wanted quiet, pre-season and a family run place.

Kostas is above and beyond any host I've ever met, like his brother Sophocles. Together, with their siblings and parents, they run a small, laid back, intimate hotel, where NOTHING is too much; the best restaurant 800mtrs down the road and the easiest car hire going. Mamas cooking at Boukari Beach Restaurant, from the Octopus to Sea Bass, Sardines to huge grilled Prawns (Langoustine), is fabulous.

When I 1st arrived Corfu was just starting to open up and very little was open. Kostas looked after me, made me feel like family and constantly made sure I was OK.

There are so many beautiful places to visit in the south of Corfu and all over Corfu of course, and it was such a privilege to see so much of the Island, with so few tourists.

As I left, Corfu was filling up and after 2 years of no travelling, this was THE best way to introduce myself back to freedom!!!

Next time, I'll bring all the family with me to the beautiful Penelope Hotel and the beautiful Kostas and his family.

Blessed Love and Peace. ❤💛💚

We came to this hotel on a rebound. Since, as I mentioned in a previous review, we came from Kavos, from disgusting accommodation and a terrible area, so we decided to cancel and found the Penélope hotel.

There is nothing bad to say about this accommodation, everything has been great from the first moment.
The room smelled clean just when you opened the door, the bathroom was very complete, the shower with a door where you could take a nice bath, the room was great with a very nice terrace, equipped with its mosquito net.
The lovely staff took great care of us. And finally, the very nice pool, not very crowded where sometimes it was even too lazy to leave, because it was very comfortable.

The area where the hotel is located, I would say is one of the most beautiful and quiet on the island.
A marvel !!

Stayed for one week but wish it was longer. Hotel is amazing. Small and quiet. Kostas and his family are friendly and helpful. Boukari is a quiet resort with a few restaurants. No noisy bars. Beach is narrow and pebbles but crystal clear calm sea. Perfect for a relaxing peaceful break. Many thanks to Kostas and family. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

A large group of friends arriving from several countries, including ourselves, stayed for several nights during the summer of 2016, spread across the multiple properties owned by this proprietor. The properties and their owner gave a promising first impression - idyllic location, and very attentive to us and our needs as a group.

On the first evening, our group gathered to celebrate our arrival, with the owner tending bar, joining in rather liberally in the celebrations. One of the guests in our party had hit their intake limit for the evening, and elected to leave alone to return to the guestroom. The guest was followed by the owner to the room, and was assaulted while in their room, intoxicated. Understandably, this caused unspeakable discomfort and distress for this member of our party, and is disgusting, amoral, and unacceptable behaviour on the part of the hotel's owner. An assault report was documented in the guests' home country.

This experience, in addition to questionable (and surprise) final room bills and additional sums, would have us caution that this is an unsafe and potentially dangerous environment to be spending any amount of time in.
