With its spectacular views of the Acropolis and the Aegean Sea and a multitude of deluxe comforts and services, the Grand Hyatt Athens is the optimal 5-star hotel in Athens, Greece near the Acropolis for both business and cosmopolitan travelers spending time in Greece’s capital city. Well located on the prominent Syngrou Avenue, Grand Hyatt Athens is easily accessible to the city’s vibrant historical center and all its top attractions. It’s also walking distance to many of the area’s trendy new shops and cafes. No other property in Athens boasts two rooftop pools, one with a wall of glass, the other an infinity pool that appears to float towards the Acropolis. The property’s 548 guest rooms and suites are notably spacious –starting at 27 square meters. Many leading companies choose the resort to host international conferences and events, thanks to its conference areas--4000 square meters spread on two floors with its own private entrance.

The Grand Hyatt Athens has garnered mixed reviews, with guests applauding its rooftop amenities and sweeping views, yet some find the noise level disruptive. While the central location is a highlight for many, it's also a source of contention due to the surrounding noise and less appealing areas. Opinions on value and service quality vary greatly, with instances of both satisfaction and frustration. Room cleanliness receives praise, but some guests point out issues with maintenance. The hotel's atmosphere and amenities like the pool and breakfast are popular, although crowded conditions and spa limitations have been noted.

Staying at the Grand Hyatt and having lunch and dinner at The Grand by Interni, I can recommend having a meal there. The ricotta Gnocchi with carmelized figs is an outstanding dish. The Grouper with Orzo and roasted beetroot was another delicious dish. Sea Bass Ceviche was a little soupy but had such a good taste that I asked for a spoon to catch the liquid. I also tasted a lovely salad with goat cheese and an excellent Beef Tartare. Everything I tasted was good and unpretentious. The service was excellent and punctual. I highly recommend the Grand by Interni.

This hotel is actually very good in many ways. The room was large, bed comfortable and breakfast was very good (but chaotic). The location is horrible. It’s by a 8 lane highway and despite the thick windows the constant noise of traffic can be heard. The view from our room was of seedy strip clubs and the main road towards the town is full of sex shops. So not a very nice area. The underground station is quite far away but uber taxis are very reasonable, costing about 8 euros to town. The most expensive on was during Friday rush hour and even that was 12 euros. Our room had tiny balcony but it was unusable due to the traffic noise and pollution.
We had use of the club lounge which was very nice , providing snacks and drinks, including wine throughout the day. We used it also for breakfast after trying the upstairs main restaurant once for breakfast and found it totally chaotic.
I dined at the 9th floor restaurant once. The service was friendly but everything took a very long time. Also my food resembled a school dinner. I have never seen a dish as bland and beige in a restaurant ever before. A huge disappointment!
The views form the restaurant are beautiful with great views of Acropolis. There is also pools with sunloungers and tables with chairs on 8th floor roof terrace. We were there at Easter when temperatures were +25c but pools were closed.

Overall this is a lovely hotel, very clean and modern with large rooms and we had a pool on our balcony which was amazing. The staff are mostly very helpful and friendly although as a married couple being referred to as friends was a little grating. The location is good and if you are looking for proper greek restaurants there are a few in walking distance and it's not too touristy. However, the rooftop is very noisy at night and music could be heard until 12am/1am most nights so I would suggest a stricter curfew needs to enforced. Also, the hotel rooftop pool needs to either have more cabanas or umbrellas available. As the pool is one of the main selling points of the hotel we could only use it once due to lack of seating and honestly lack of shade!

We made the mistake of not reading reviews before booking here. As others have commented here, GH athens is hiding behind a 5 star brand but is 1 star service experience, 3 star Room.

Everything here is so painfully difficult and inefficient, you are in a constant state of waiting around - from check in, lifts, calling room service. No acknowledgement/ apologies from staff, grumpy and rude. Everyone working here can definitely do with a smile!

We have stayed at previous GH chains globally and have always received exceptional service.

The service at the restaurants is a joke. You can’t get anyone attention to take your order, as you are told that only certain staff can take your order while the others stand there free trying to avoid eye contact. By the time you finally can order 15 min waiting you are greeted by grumpy rude staff.

We had breakfast on level 9 and it was total chaos, waiting around. We tried the lounge next day, and during our entire stay we had lovely service from Irene (only person with a smile during our whole stay).

The lift system is so slow, constant frustration everyday waiting for the lifts with other guests.

The Hallway is gross filled with dirty cups and plates throughout the day building up, meanwhile staff are walking through the floor throughout the day.

Location is inconvenient- Impossible to get a taxi and when asked for assistance with the staff at front they tell you to order Uber - nothing is nearby except strip clubs!!.

Turndown service came ringing at 10pm ringing the bell while my kids are asleep (how this is 5 stars!).

If you are expecting 5 stars service to the standard of GH globally, than would I recommend to stay away from GH Athens and take your money elsewhere to another hotel in Athens

Grand Hyatt was extremely helpful in assisting with transportation from the airport to the hotel. Staff was very accommodating for early check in and stored our bags and use the facilities until our room was ready.
The room was clean and top notch.
The continental breakfast was absolutely amazing!!!
If I ever travel back to Athens, I would definitely stay there again.

This was my first time here for a personal Mediterranean cruise vacation. I love Grand Hyatts. This Grand Hyatt exceeded my expectations, when I arrived. I arrived early in the morning from a non-stop United Airlines flight from EWR. I arrived in the early morning. I took a taxi from the ATH airport to the Grand Hyatt. There was lots of traffic. My taxi cost was about 55 euro. I could not check into my room until after 2 pm. In the meantime I enjoyed lunch upstairs on the 8th floor prior to 2 pm. My lunch cost 78 euros. I was able to check into my king bedroom 272 after my lunch. The best part of this hotel are the pools located on the 8th floor including one endless pool overlooking the Acropolis.

My room was very nice except the shower had minimal glass between the shower head and the bathroom floor, therefore the bathroom floor would become wet after a shower. My room was located on the side of the hotel rather than on the main street, which is noisier than the side street. I slept like a baby.

My first dinner at the Hyatt Aphrodite restaurant cost me 78 euro for dinner and 13 euro for two cocktails or 91 euro total less gratuity. Lunch on the 8th floor was 27 euro for food and 34 euro for cocktails or a total of 61 euro less gratuity. My second dinner cost 110 euro with 13 euro for cocktails. 8th floor breakfast cost 30 euro. My additional room charges for two dinners, one lunch and two breakfasts added another 345 Euros or $397 (USA) charged to my Hyatt credit card. I thought it was reasonable, because I enjoyed two dinners with cocktails, one lunch and one breakfast charged to my room.

My room was prepaid by my Hyatt credit card in the amount of $534 for a two night stay. My additional room charges for two dinners, one lunch and two breakfasts added another 345 Euros or $397 (USA) charged to my Hyatt credit card. The total cost for my two night stay here was therefore $931. I would return to this hotel again. I love my Grand Hyatt's.

This was a magnificent hotel when it was built but has not been maintained. The northern rooms with balcony Acropolis views actually look at a hideous building with bright red signs that are glowing into your room all night, no actual view of anything historic. Blackout curtains to block this abomination were broken with the closure rods missing requiring a climb up to completely block the light. Staff is surely refusing to break a bill to allow us to tip for service saying they were “ not a bank”. Look elsewhere which as a longtime Hyatt guest I regret to advise, but other than the view from the ninth floor restaurant unlike what the “view room” we paid for, this property is severely lacking.

but this property is clearly lacking. Highlight is the ninth floor restaurant which has an excellent view of the Acropolis unlike the “vise” room we paid for.

Very inexpensive for the level of luxury you get!

Note the location is next to a highway and your view may be that of a red light district. You’re a short taxi ride away from the Acropolis attractions, and taxis aren’t expensive.

Rooms were beautiful and there were many friendly staff. I did come on a holiday, and there was also a good amount of waiting I had to do—be prepared to exercise some patience.

Hyatt lounge was nice and had great food, even in evenings.

Indoor pool did have a chlorine smell, which is common. It wasn’t the cleanest or most luxurious spa so I skipped it. Gym was relatively small and in a basement.

Roof and breakfast views were fantastic.

Rooms were luxurious and clean and new.

But for the price, I would totally come back to this hotel. It’s a fantastic value for the money! Yes, it may not be as luxurious as a place like the Grand Hyatt Kauai, but it gets the job done for a fraction of the cost!

As always extremely satisfied by my stay at the Hyatt, excellent service all around - they didn’t receive a .5 of a star because of the elevator system they have , it is very confusing and I noticed lots of older couples struggling to figure it out . Othewise let’s get to the rating

Service : as mentioned 4.5:5 due to the elevator issue . Other wise amazing concierge we are club lounge members, and I was extremely pleased by the cleanliness kindness as well as the selection of foods/Beverages throughout the day. If you’re not a club member, I highly suggest you join

Food: Was included in our stay, I read this 5:5 amazing selection, fresh food very clean. I suggest you stay on the ninth floor as you get a better view of the city for those new to this hotel you have a choice of floor or ninth floor both serve the same just different views I would sit on the side of the building to get a better view of the city.

Value: 5:5 After spending couple of days at the Hyatt, I would visit Athens just to stay at this Hotel again. Amazing view three swimming pool to choose from one with an infinity overlooking the architectural structures of the city, indoor and outdoor with different times of closing.

Location:5:5 This hotel is located in the heart of the city you walk away from Michelin star restaurant. I highly recommend a restaurant that’s about three minutes Walk away, small Greek restaurant with amazing food and great staff

This hotel advertised a view of the acropolis and said it was within walking distance of the city. It was neither! It is a 45 minute walk from all of the historical sites and shopping. The view of the acropolis, that they charge more for, is actually a view of a VERY busy/loud (all night long) road and 3 or 4 strip clubs. If the road noise doesn’t keep you awake all night, the loud music from the strip clubs will. When we asked the hotel to change our room, they were very rude and unhelpful. In addition anytime we talked to a hotel employee about anything, they were very slow to responding (2-3 hours) and unwilling to help. They were all very rude. It was an incredibly disappointing and frustrating stay.

Same for us too - we didn’t use these facilities as it was end September/beginning October when we stayed at this hotel. However, the pool was not indoors, it was outdoors by the restaurant. Nice view of the Acropolis from the pool area!
