This is an average hotel in every area, location, service, breakfast, room. Sad and gray neighborhood. It was clean and functional, the price is decent, but I will be choosing another next time I'm in Athens.

As other reviews have mentioned, this is not the nicest area of town, but once you step inside the hotel it seems like you are a world away! The hotel is brilliant value for money and the bed is one of most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever seen. Facilities in the room were basic, i.e. no tea/coffee, iron or safe...

We stayed here for 2 nights while exploring Athens. The Hotel is neat and modern on the inside and the staff are relatively friendly. The rooms are a bit small but acceptable. It is close to Omonia station. The breakfast is very basic boiled eggs, ham, cheese and pastries. What they do not tell you is that the area is...

This hotel is very nice for people travelling on a budget. It has a lovely breakfast, a very nice and helpful staff, and clean, spacious rooms. It is very close to a subway station as well. I was pleased with my experience.

we stayed at this hotel for two nights late may, and found it decent. The area was certainly not the greatest, as there were some riff-raffs outside the hotel, with one couple even busy doing drugs! The inside of the hotel is neat, with the host very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, although limited, was good.its quite close to omonia...

I stayed at the hotel at June 2013, for a couple of nights. The room was at the entresol, very small with only a small window nearly to the floor!!!! Al thought it was clean enough just for a nap. The breakfast was so poor, that i thought at the beginning that i wasn't at the right place. The place...

We stayed at Chic for 3 days and found it to be ideal for getting around town. You are a 3-4 minute walk to Omonia Square and the subway, and a 10-15 minute walk to Monastiraki and the Plaka, and 15 minutes to the Acropolis. It can be tricky to find, but most hotels in Athens are tricky to find...

The Chic Hotel may not be the easiest place to find- but when you find it you will love it. The rooms are small but cozy. The space was very clean and had everything we needed. We also found the front desk staff to be friendly and very helpful. My husband and I went exploring everyday and they always pointed...

Having spent 2 separate nights at the Chic Hotel, in 2 different rooms, it's evident to see that this CLEARLY not a 4 star hotel. It's one of those classic situations in Europe where a hotel gets 4 stars for having a lift - rather than the quality of the rooms, breakfast etc! Don't get me wrong, on the whole...

OK, this is a decent hotel. Good looking. This is why I don't understand why they have such a horrible breakfast, maybe a 2 star. No warm food, lady not really cleaning tables, dirty dishes. We were disappointed. Street hotel is in is VERY loud. I think construction of the hotel should have been better. But being tired and after having...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
