This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in for a long time. On our recent trip we stayed in various hotels in Rome, Pisa, Sicily, Crete and Athens. This was the best of the lot (the hotel in Sicily was apparantly 5* but the Chic hotel was better). The room was much bigger than I expected. A...

Only stayed for one night but felt very welcome from the staff since walking in the hotel. Very easy to find and very central location. The receptionist was so helpful, gave us tips where to eat and where to go. Free wi-fi is always a big plus in hotels while on holiday. Breakfast was nice and fresh. Would stay again!

Central Athens, easy walking to all principal sites of interest, breakfast fine and late, most helpful staff. Archeological Musem a must, Numatiicist Museum interesting, Ask prices at venues before you sit down, a beer 500cl can be two or six Euros. In the same vein some Greeks are very miserable at the moment, but shrug it off, some great places...

As a group of 4 young females we were explicitly warned on our journey to the airport and our arrival to the hotel about the unsafe location of the hotel. We were advised to get taxis at night round the area, and even in the day - rather than pass through the ally ways. This all seems like common sense...

This is a great hotel in the heart of Athens. It was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Only drawback was the opaque bathroom wall/door, so you've got to be pretty comfortable with the person you're sharing with (although it's not as bad as it first seems). Would definitely stay here again.

Overall hotel and staff were excellent. The only problem with the hotel is the location, and it would have been great to know before planning our stay. Although it is close to most major attractions and metro, the neighborhood Omonia is diffinately not a place that is welcoming to tourists. While walking through the area both day and night we...

The rooms here are a little bit loud, but that is the only negative thing I can say. When we arrived in Athens we had just come from Turkey (we were in Tanzania before that). I was very, very, sick and we were worried I might have malaria. We were leaving for Ios & Santorini in two days and needed...

On arrival the receptionist gave us a very warm welcome and spent some time explaining the city areas and providing us with all the essential information we needed. I had emailed reservations two weeks prior to our stay to request adjoining rooms for myself and my elderly mother, when I mentioned this arrangement our rooms had already been assigned as...

I've been in Athens during March, still winter. Room was great, and staff treated us fine. The rooms are really noise though, since it is not such a nice neighborhood (people using drugs and quite dangerous), and we got a room facing the main street. To avoid problems walking around, follow the instructions the staff will give you upon arrival,...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
