This hotel seems to have mixed reviews, maybe because getting the right room makes a huge difference. Your choice is either street side which is noisy ( where we had 2 rooms ) or to the back where you may get a room facing directly onto the small pool or a blank wall. The rooms to get are quite definitely on...

We have stayed in Acropolis Hill for one night only. It has a good location which is bery near to many tourist attractions. The hotel itself is average. Rooms are small but rather clean. The view from the roof is very nice. Breakfast is OK. Service was good and polite. Overall it is a good value for money

After a long flight and looking forward to staying here, we are told they have no record of our booking, despite being given a voucher from Prestige travel 45 mins earlier on arrival at Airport!...and we booked with our travel agent in New Zealand in December 2013.. We had paid in full in March 2014, We have been shunted off...

Acropolis Hill Hotel is in a fabulous spot....right at the base of The Parthenon and surrounds but a peaceful quiet location...and with the bonus of a pool! Very nice after a hot days walk around the ruins! You can walk to everything from here. The terrace looking straight at The Parthenon is a great spot to chill at night. We...

We stayed here for two nights after finishing up a group your of Athens & Greek isles. The location is perfect for walking around to all attractions, shopping and eating. The staff at reception were extremely helpful with any questions. Have us directions everyday and recommended great places to eat or have a drink. Rooms are on the smaller side...

Like others have said- it is a great spot for doing the touristy things but the rooms are tiny- tight with two people. The pool is refreshing around three pm after a day in the heat. Breakfast is great and a five minute walk to the acropolis an Parthenon. Only there three nights and it was fine for a short...

We were supposed to stay there, having booked nearly 7 months before, but on arrival, we found we had been "moved" to another hotel. That, after a very hot walk (by the way, don't swallow their web site talking about an east walk from the Metro - in summer heat at 2pm, it's a royal pain, cab it.) At that...

Lovely reception after long ferry ride. Soo comfy bed. Location great as Acropolis just down the road and restaurants around the corner in a relaxing environment. Definitely stay again should opportunity arise!

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Parthenon and has amazing views from the roof terrace of the acropolis and the city. The helpful and friendly staff made our stay very pleasant. The only complaint was that our double room was quite tight and the twin beds that were pushed together to create a double were on wheels...

I booked 2 rooms for 3 days in this hotel a month ahead of our arrival. I booked directly through the hotel website ... not through Expedia or other booking site. The rooms were prepaid in FULL...this was not just a reservation. As a matter of fact, the entire booking charge was non-refundable in the event WE canceled. So they...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
