I had booked two nights at the Acropolis Hill Hotel because I wanted to be within walking distance of the Acropolis Museum and the Agora. Because I had mislaid my booking reservation I emailed the hotel when I was in Crete to ensure that I indeed had a booking. In spite of emailing twice, I got not response but trusted...

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel. it's a great location, walking distance from the Acropolis, and Plaka. Staff are very helpful and breakfast is more than adequate. We thought that a year on the hotel could have benefited from some updating but that said, it is still modern and its tasteful decor has stood the...

We stayed here for 2 nights before "island hopping" and then again for 2 nights when we got back. Hotel is very convenient to acropolis and also to several other sight seeing spots. Also not far from train. Staff were very nice and always went out of their way to help/ advise. We had city view room first which was...

This hotel seems to have mixed reviews, maybe because getting the right room makes a huge difference. Your choice is either street side which is noisy ( where we had 2 rooms ) or to the back where you may get a room facing directly onto the small pool or a blank wall. The rooms to get are quite definitely on...

We have stayed in Acropolis Hill for one night only. It has a good location which is bery near to many tourist attractions. The hotel itself is average. Rooms are small but rather clean. The view from the roof is very nice. Breakfast is OK. Service was good and polite. Overall it is a good value for money

Acropolis Hill Hotel is in a fabulous spot....right at the base of The Parthenon and surrounds but a peaceful quiet location...and with the bonus of a pool! Very nice after a hot days walk around the ruins! You can walk to everything from here. The terrace looking straight at The Parthenon is a great spot to chill at night. We...

We stayed here for two nights after finishing up a group your of Athens & Greek isles. The location is perfect for walking around to all attractions, shopping and eating. The staff at reception were extremely helpful with any questions. Have us directions everyday and recommended great places to eat or have a drink. Rooms are on the smaller side...

Like others have said- it is a great spot for doing the touristy things but the rooms are tiny- tight with two people. The pool is refreshing around three pm after a day in the heat. Breakfast is great and a five minute walk to the acropolis an Parthenon. Only there three nights and it was fine for a short...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
