You don't need to be a guest of the hotel to make use of its rooftop deck and bar with the BEST view of the Acropolis and Parthenon. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but extremely well placed in the middle of the Plaka area and walking distance to just about all of the major attractions. The staff...

Although somewhat hard to find if travelling on foot, the Plaka hotel was a discovery well worth the effort. In the heart of the Plaka District, the Plaka hotel is central to all the hustle and bustle that comes from being surrounded by ancient ruins, good restaurants, many sidewalk cafes, high-end jewelry and fur stores as well as more tourist/souvenir...

If it was not for location I would rate this hotel a 3. Cleanliness was on point. Hotel staid was okay...but the location!!!! Right by Plaka square...tons of restaurants...and not far from the Acropolis. Dear Maxipint, Thank you for staying with us and for your tips for other travellers. There no reason for someone who does not have a lot of luggage, not to use the metro, as long as he takes real care of his personal belongings. The line to the airport and the port is direct and very efficient... but as said...

Recommend the Plaka Hotel as great place to stay in terms of location. We stayed here for three nights before heading off to the islands. The rooms are clean and basic and whilst we weren't lucky enough to have a room with a view it certainly met our needs. Staff nice and helpful. Breakfast included and a good way to...

Stayed two nights while we explored historic Athens. Took the Metro from the airport to Monastiraki Square and promptly got lost even though we were only 250m from the hotel. We had directions but they weren't very helpful and we just kept going around in circles. Finally found the hotel after 1.5 hrs and checked-in very hot, very thirsty and...

Ask for a room with a view of the Acropolis, or if one is not available have a seat at their rooftop garden and sip a glass of wine and "drink in" the view. This little hotel is perfectly located by all the main attractions. I walked to the Acropolis, the main shopping walkways and great restaurants. Rooms are average,...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
