I have booked a room in this hotel via Trivago / Amoma. I received a confirmation from Trivago / Amoma, but when I arrived at the reception, they just said the reservation was cancelled because the reservation was not done "properly" by the provider. I was not noticed of the cancellation. People at the reception did not try to call...

Very nice design hotel at the centre of Athens. Nice staff, nice rooms - good value for money. Warm parquet flooring contrasts nicely with the modern design. Beautiful photographs adorn the hotel. Free soft drinks too! Only comment: could do with a few more sockets to recharge devices!! But there was at least one placed comfortably on each side of...

We were very pleased with the Periscope. We would be lying to say the room size was what we were expecting - it was a little small - but it was exceptionally clean and well decorated. The staff were super - our cleaning lady left fresh fruit and local snacks in our room everyday. They treated us like royalty. The...

I stayed at the Periscope hotel for 2 nights. The room was nice, it is a great idea to have a fresh drinks buffet at your disposal in the lobby 24/7. But what I appreciated the most was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff.

Although the Periscope is not expensive in absolute terms, I found it not good value for money. The privileged Kolonaki location is probably the best asset of the hotel, as others have noted. It’s just steps off Patriarchou Ioakim with its delightful shops, cafes and tony Athenians strolling. Lots of fun restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is clean, has...

We stayed at the periscope in 2 rooms (family of 4). The hotel itself is clean and well located and includes a simple free breakfast. Staff are pleasant if not really that friendly. Rooms are a little small and the hotel really has no public spaces you can sit in or get coffee etc, so overall can over time feel...

This hotel is modern and nice but off the beaten path. It's on a narrow street that is about a 5 minute walk to some main areas. It was hard to find the hotel at first with the taxi. I rented the penthouse suite which was nice but wasn't sure it was worth the money. It's more me than the...

The hotel is very well situated, it is in a calm street and with a very attentative and nice service. There are plenty of nice restaurants in its close vicinity, yet it is not a touristic area. I always enjoy coming back, having stayed there on numerous occasions since 2008 and it is a steady value which is keeping its...

A well run, very friendly and nicely designed hotel in the middle of Kolonaki area. Shops, restaurants, museums all within short walking distance. A perfect alternative to escape from the big tourist hotels around Syntagma.

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighbourhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Periscope is a minimal city hotel with an impressive urban architecture, located on a quiet street, minutes away from Kolonaki square. The hotel draws its name from its electric periscope, a fantastic way to visit Athens from a distance! In the Lounge Bar, guests can find a remote control for a periscope located on the roof of the hotel. With a 360 degree range, the periscope's views, which guests select, are shown real time on a big plasma TV. ... more   less
