The Athens Gate Hotel receives widespread acclaim for its spotless and comfortable accommodations, which come with modern amenities and spectacular views that guests often rave about. Its prime location is a hit among reviewers, offering effortless access to historic attractions and local dining. While the hotel's rooftop dining and extensive breakfast spread are popular, some guests have experienced traffic noise in street-facing rooms and occasional slow service. Opinions on value are mixed; some find it reasonable, while others are let down by extra costs. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness and professional service are well-regarded.

We had a fantastic time at The Athens Gate. The location was superb, the service was absolutely brilliant, and the view from the room was spectacular. The staff were all so helpful and welcoming that we immediately felt at home.

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the Acropolis, and that view was worth the price of the room alone! The food at the restaurant was delicious. All the big tourist sites are within very easy reach. We couldn’t have picked a better hotel for our stay, and would love to go back.

Me and my partner were very pleased with our stay here. We have done many city breaks over the years and the hotels have been hit and miss.
First and foremost the views from the rooms (we booked the extra price to get a view of the zeus temple or acropolis) were fantastic to see them every morning made us want to explore the city further and get into the history.
The room layout was adequate and gave plenty of storage for belongings. The room also came equipped with a safe, minibar and flat wide screen TV also a walk in shower. All toiletries were provided as would be expected.
The breakfast was to a high standard and included a good variety of savoury and sweet items as well as reasonable selection of drinks, we also noted they serve breakfast for a much longer time period than most other hotels meaning later rises won't miss out. The hotel restaurant we only visited on one evening but we were impressed with the quality of the meal however felt slightly over priced. Making up for this once again were the fantastic views from the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel seeing the acropolis lit up in the evening from so high up was amazing,
This hotel would suite anyone who is interesting in visiting all the main attractions/archaeological sites near the centre of Athens most if not all are within walking distance as are the other locations such as the Olympic stadium.

Had a quick trip from Sicily to Athens (Fri -Mon). We were checked in quickly given the run down including 10% off hotel restaurant, and told breakfast was free every morning.

Pros:
staff extremely helpful (COVID info/restaurants recommendations)
Rooms very clean
Restaurant staff very kind and also helpful
Close to several sites including restaurants and shopping
Depending on room location (ours 7th floor) you get a balcony/view/full on sun/some street noise
Air conditioning kicked butt!
Welcome bottle of wine in room from hotel mgr

Cons:
Internet was horrible!!
Our bed was supposed to be a queen and instead it was 2 singles
Restaurant for dinner was way over priced!
If you don’t know Greek (key board) the business enter won’t work for you
The room seemed very small

This hotel served as our hub during 5 days in Athens. The location is fairly convenient, at the edge of Plaka, minutes from the Acropolis Museum and Acropolis side entrance, and a 10-15 min walk from Syntagma (metro station). Staff were friendly and the rooms clean. The air conditioning worked very well, and very welcome during a hot August visit. The beds were comfortable.

Elevators are a bit slow, small, and in frequent use. Not a problem if you are on a lower floor. Our room faced the main road and, despite having a beefy sound insulating window, was quite noisy. Road noise did decrease a little overnight, but the insulation was no match for the occasional loud motorcycle (of which there are a lot in Athens). Though we had a nice view of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, ask for a room facing the Acropolis to have a quieter nights sleep. Sound insulation from the hallway was a bit thin, too. Keeping with a thin theme, the towels were also on the thinner/smaller side.

The star of the show is the rooftop dining area for breakfast or dinner. The view is phenomenal, and we loved starting the day outside under the Acropolis. Nothing exciting about the breakfast food, but a decent variety and quality. We will likely stay here again, but on the Acropolis side.

We stayed at Athens Gate Hotel in Mid sept 2019, for a week prior to boarding a cruise out of Pireaus Port. The room was comfortable, and w/in 5 min walk from entrance to Acropolis and the Plaka area. It had a wonderful rooftop bar with Both inside and outside seating) where you could have an unobstructed view of the Acropolis on one side, and the Temple of Zeus on the other. The rooftop bar is where they served the breakfast buffet every morning w/ good selection of hot and cold items. The hotel had 2 small elevators, a pleasant english speaking staff who were very helpful with calling taxis and other requests such as tours. Bathrooms were smaller, like most European hotels, but the beds were comfortable and we had a balcony, but no chairs on the balcony. You had to leave a key card in the slot to cool down the room, and had a small bar area in the lobby. We would definately stay here again primarily due to the location and awesome rooftop bar with views!

The hotel is located in a few minutes (walking distance) of the entrance to Acropolis Museum, Dionysus Theater, Odeon of Herodus and Hadrian's Arc.
The breakfast presents an outstanding quality, with all ingredients carefully prepared (scrambled eggs are divinal). The view from the breakfast room for the Acropolis is amazing! All guests are individually attended during breakfast. Kristine has been perfect and has shown a tireless dedication to us, making our stay really marvellous!

We loved the location of this hotel, close to historic ruins, 1 block from the Plakka, with all its shopping & restaurant options. Excellent breakfast & dinner were served in the rooftop restaurant with a fantastic view of the Acropolis. Rooms were clean and comfortable, our balcony overlooked a park & ruin excavation site.
Masks were required to enter lobby or in all public areas. Gloves were provided for the breakfast buffet, displayed under glass hoods.
I highly recommend this hotel, perfect for a pre-cruise stay.

Hotel is superbly located near most major tourist attractions as well as having a subway stop nearby. It is a 2-minute walk to the Plaka area, filled with restaurants, shops, and activities day and night. Hotel is an older building, nicely maintained. Elevators are old and small but work well. Lobby is oddly laid out but large, with a bar an sitting areas. Staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Grounds are kept clean and are attractive. Hotel is a 3+*, not a 4* as advertised. That said, the superb location and great staff make this a good choice. I booked an executive room on the 7th floor that had an unobstructed view of the Acropolis. The view was amazing! Well worth the extra cost to see that view day and night. While the hotel is on a busy street, our room was on the opposite side of it and was very quiet. The restaurant is on the 8th (top) floor with superb views that include the Acropolis and more. Breakfast choices were plentiful but not especially good. Some foods were fresh out of the refrigerator when they should have been warm or at least room temperature. Drinks were served in the restaurant in the evenings, reasonably priced and good pours. Not a fancy hotel but one could not ask for a better location or staff.

Very good location and it's very easy to walk around the city centre from here or catch the bus/metro. Very close to the Acropolis. My room was a little small but the bed was extremely comfortable with a good selection of pillows. The bathroom was excellent with shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, body milk, sewing kit, soap, and even slippers - nice touch! The restaurant on the top floor was amazing with views across to the Acropolis, the breakfast was very good and the staff were all very friendly.

The only thing that let this hotel down was the lack of sound proofing. Unfortunately it is next to a very busy road and there was a lot of traffic noise. I was also woken up several times at night by other guests arriving late to their rooms, this was quite annoying because I was staying for the Athens marathon and really needed some good sleep. If sound proofing was better I would give this hotel top marks!

We started our Greece trip with three nights at the Athens Gate and it was perfectly located for all our activities.

Location: short 5 min walk and you're at the base of the Acropolis. Multiple restaurants and mini-marts nearby and about a 10 min walk to Monastiraki Square. Our Athens By Bike tour starting point was around the corner, which was great.

Breakfast and view: the breakfast view is all that everyone says. The breakfast area is cozy, but sufficient and the breakfast is a good spread of hot items such as eggs, sausages, Greek choices and a variety of continental items such as fruit, breads and yogurt.

Room: we were a family of four and stayed in adjoining rooms 406 and 407. There's a main door off the hallway, which was handy so we could keep the two room doors open and just shut the hallway door, allowing for easy access between the two rooms. The rooms are not spacious, but they are a good size and well appointed. The balconies are a nice plus. Ours were on the size that looked out at the Temple of Zeus, but it's not quiet as it's also next to a large thoroughfare.

I used Doctor Near You back in March. doctornearyou . gr There's an option to have the technician come by the hotel to do the test, which we selected. Scheduled the test at 9am at the hotel the day before our flight. The tech was on-time. Performed the tests in our room and we received the lab certified results via email within the hour.
