This was our first time in this hotel and we were very happy to have made the choice. Amazing views of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, ambient lobby and reception, excellent breakfast, plenty of outdoor spaces (breakfast and pool areas), clean rooms, pretty much what you would expect from a true 5 star experience. Staff were highly professional and polite...

Hotel is on Syntagma Square, so it is hard to find another hotel that so close to all attractions (Plaka, Kolonaki, Parliament, Ermou St, Monastraki, Acropolis.) But hotel is very old, bathrooms, carpets, wallpapers need a good renovation. Also walls are paper thin, you can hear your next room's conversations easily. Everyday we woke up with next rooms alarm clock....

The location was excellent: two blocks from Plaka and four blocks from the Acropolis. The room was very comfortable and clean and the included breakfast was adequate. The staff went out of their way to help me with any needs: taxis, directions, recommended restaurants. You can't do better!

We stayed here for 3 nights in May on a family visit to Athens. The hotel staff were really friendly, helpful and professional. The pool area is really nice with a fantastic view of the Acropolis. There were always plenty of clean beach towels available. Breakfast was great with a good selection of both warm and cold options. The rooms...

My wife and I stayed at the Electra Palace for two nights after a long flight from Los Angeles. What can I say, when we arrived the staff was friendly, courteous and rolled out the red carpet for us. The hotel is elegant and in a great location - walking distance to the sites, public transportation and Plaka. Because we...

We arrived in the evening and were given what was suppose to be a triple room. It was the size of a large closet Right next to the elevator. The next morning we spoke to the manager, who apologized for the error and moved us to a suite overlooking the garden. The mix up was handled very professionally. The rest of...

My daughter and I visited Athens for a couple nights and the hotel had a good location, it was very close to a lot of local shopping and restaurants accessible by foot. The Acropolis and other city sights were very close by as well. The staff was very attentive and efficient , although the hotel could definitely use some upgrading....

This hotel is perfectly located for seeing the sights and walking to restaurants. The front desk staff members for the mornings are helpful and attentive. The staff for the rooftop bar were more occupied with their cell phones than service. The rooms here seem to vary widely in terms of size, view of the Acropolis, size of balcony and noise...

We only booked this hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor and also based on how lovely it looked in the photos. Now firstly this hotel is located right in the centre of Athens not 15 mins from the Acropolis which is just what we wanted. Its down a quiet little narrow side street and from the outside looks...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
