With seven people traveling, accommodations and transportation are a challenge. Electra Palace did a fantastic job of working with us to find places to eat, impromptu private tours, and cars that absolutely fit the bill. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. When we needed to add a room, they found us one even though it was the height of...

My wife and I stayed at the Ekectra Palace in the Plaka area 20 years ago on our first visit to Greece. We enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect. This year when we decided to stay in Athens for a few nights after an archeology-focused two-week tour of Crete, we were delighted to learn that one of our...

The hotel is pretty much walking distance to just about every site. It is cool, which considering the heat wave, was appreciated. It is well maintained and has an excellent breakfast spread. Since there were four of us we needed to get two rooms which made it rather expensive considering we were in Greece.

Great location with views of the Acropolis. Service was fantastic, we were even upgraded to a junior suite - a delightful surprise. The pool area is good and dinner at the restaurant at sunset was a real treat. Located in a fabulous area where you can just spend hours and hours walking the streets. A good range of foods for...

We arrived very early from our Windstar Cruise in Athens and the hotel was extremely accommodating allowing an 11AM check in to our beautiful balcony room overlooking the Acropolis. The room was luxuriously appointed, amazingly clean (impeccable) with indoor and outdoor pool, roof garden, free breakfast buffet that is amazing and all in the Plaka District. I can't say enough...

We have a local Greek restaurant owned by a woman who lives in Athens half the year. When I told her I was going to Athens and asked for a hotel recommendation, she waved her arm in the air and scoffed: "The Electra Palace" as if I had asked a dumb question. Mrs. P's recommendation was good enough for me...

My wife and stayed at Electra Palace for two nights after flying into Athens as part of our honeymoon. The room was comfortable and adequate in size. The customer service was OUTSTANDING. On two separate occasions we called down to reception requesting items (bucket of ice and cork screw), both times they arrived within 5 minutes and we were on...

In the heat of an Athens summer this hotel is a wonderful oasis of cool. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well furnished and the Acropolis view, for those that have it, is outstanding. Staff are polite and helpful, especially, on Reception. The restaurant on the fifth floor also has a wonderful view which is lit-up at night and the food...

Clean hotel in a great location! Arriving very late and as the taxi guy takes you down some old streets that look like the ghetto you may be skeptical but as soon as you walk through the door into the lobby you will realize you made a good choice. This hotel has an excellent location and is walking distance to...

Only stayed here for one night but were very pleased with the location of the hotel. The hotel itself was very impressive and a lovely well maintained property. We got upgraded to a Junior Suite which had a view of the acropolis. The room was very nice, tastefully decorated and all amenities you could want. The pool was a bonus...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
