The only great thing about this hotel is the service. We have been on the road for almost three months and these were the worst beds we have ever encountered. You can feel the springs. The room was tiny, and we have had many small rooms in our travels, and so was the bathroom, Breakfast was OK, short on selection,...

Perfect location (safe neighborhood, 5-minute walk to Acropolis and/or dining/shopping area), spotless, friendly staff and a great price. Rooftop dining area offers spectacular view of Acropolis and city. Nothing fancy. Just a good, pleasant hotel in one of the world's most amazing cities. We will stay here again when we go back.

I must admit, the view of this hotel from the outside isn't the best but inside.....wow!!!! The receiption of the hotel is packed with comfy sofas and a TV (+ DVD Player). The breakfast is also served here. The rooms are big enough to be comfy - the showers are a bit compact but that doesn't bug us. Hot water...

When you go to Athen, stay at Acropolis View Hotel. The hotel is very good and they take care of you. The breakfast included is also so good. You van use the terrace at the top, from where you have a wonderful view. It´s close to Acropolis and their very good museum. You are staying beside old Town with their...

The location of the hotel is one of the best possible in Athens these days. Its very central, yet much cleaner and safer than Omonoia or Plaka and much more calm and predictable than Syntagma. The Acropolis station is usually open even when there are closures due to demonstrations. The walk downtown is a very pleasant one. There is a...

Right near the Acropolis, we had a lovely stay here. We could see the Acropolis from our bedroom and this was quite spectacular at night. The rooftop terrace was great and a good location for a drink at night. Breakfast was good. Metro is close and allows easy transfer to the airport. Our time in Athens was great! I don't...

Stayed here in October with my boyfriend and loved it. The rooms are spacious and staff is pleasant. Located in Plaka near everything and the restaurant on penthouse has the most incredible view. Elias and wife are great!!! Will definitely go back if ever in Athens again.

2 years ago, at low season, we visited many hotels near Acropolis. We did not choose this hotel because of an old fashion look of rooms and lounge. We eventually stayed several times in 2 others hotels more luxurious in the neighborhood. Last month, back to Athens with our daughter but without reservation, other hotels werre fully booked. We spend...

This hotel really exceeded our expectation. The view from the rooftop were superb. We took many pics and will add them later. I booked this hotel from Booking.com in advance and got a good deal. But I made a gross mistake and selected the current month(Aug) instead of Oct. The next day there was a no show mail from Booking.com...

We also found it a little difficult to find the hotel (didn't have google maps to rescue us) but I guess for us its because we reached at around 11:30 in the night but we found such friendly people on the road even at that time who guided us to the hotel. In the morning you realise its actually so...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
