This is the second time we have stayed here. We chose it for the proximity of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum. The Plaka is also very near. The room was good and the mattress was enormous and very very comfortable, however a bit mean with the tea-bags, hardly an expense! Overall the place is very clean so it's a...

Pros: - Great location close to Acropolis Cons: - Traveled with my wife and starting on the first night, numerous bug bites on exposed surfaces in-line, in the pattern of bed bugs. Continued the subsequent nights. Confirmed likely bedbug bites when we returned home (ruled out scabies by dermatology, not mosquito bites, not fleas). We have since returned home, and...

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting your review. I am really sorry to hear about your incident during your stay with us. Since you mention that you had a problem from your 1st night you should have requested immediate room change . I truly apologize that this happened at our hotel but kindly note that the specific bug is commonly...

We come to Athens every couple of years and always stay at the Hera! Right across from the new Acropolis Museum, in the shadow of the Acropolis and lots of excellent tavernas. Lots of marble and polished wood in lobby and rooms - very elegant! The rooms are spacious (according to European standards!) and the beds and linens are first...

The hotel was really nice. The staff was very helpful and polite and the little breakfast restaurant was lovely with an ample array of options for breakfast. As other reviewers have mentioned, the decor is rich, however the carpets and tiles could use a very thorough professional cleaning. I am a bit of a germaphobe and get really creeped out...

Hotel in good spot but felt the hotel was pretty outdated. The shower sliding door fell off, the drain was bronzing and the hairdryer was cracked in some bits. The pillows were clearly overslept on. On positive side.. good food around and sites are closeby.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Its location is perfect. The room and its amenities were great, the large double bed was very comfortable and the balcony with a view of The Parthenon was a bonus. The location could not have been better as everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance of the hotel. We ate...

We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed it very much! The staff was friendly (I don't know what happened to the reviewer below who ran into someone at the front desk who was rude). Everyone spoke excellent English and was helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel has a great location, just around the corner from the...

We loved this hotel. Ideally located near to all the main sights and close to some excellent restaurants. The room had everything we needed and the bed was super comfortable. Do try the roof top bar for a drink or a meal. The staff there and in the rest of the hotel are super friendly and the view must be...

Nice and quiet hotel in an excellent location - not only because of the proximity to the Acropolis but also the neighbourhood is vibrant in the evening with restaurant gardens. Good rooftop restaurant with a unique view of the Acropolis hill. Room was OK, tea/coffee making facilities was a much welcome bonus. Fast and stable WiFi. Standard hotel breakfast, however...

Nice hotel and great location. However, the customer service was just horrible. The little short man with a beard working the front desk was terribly rude. This man has no business working in customer service! We had a large family group of 14 people, and he was rude with all of us.

Dear guest, Thank you for staying at Hera hotel. I am glad that you liked our hotel and location. Regarding your comments on our front desk agent, I am sorry to hear about them. Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
