On top of the strengths of a great location (about 5 blocks from the base of the Acropolis!) AND reasonable price, the Tempi offers clean, well-furnished and appointed rooms. The (yes, 24 hour) front staff & owner were courteous and accommodating. They follow the very practical routine of keeping your (heavily-fobbed) room key while you're out and about. We opted...

I stayed here on two separate occasions in 2008...for three nights in July and another night in August. This hotel isn't fancy, but it has everything you need...bathroom, shower, bed, and AC. The staff is SO kind and welcoming. I will stay here again when I go back to Athens sometime soon (I hope).

We stayed at this hotel for around 5 nights. The location is ideal with direct metro line to the airport and Pireus. Its right in the centre of Athens, but on a quiet pedestrian street, so you can walk everywhere and no need to worry about noise if you're a light sleeper. Most other hotels in the area seem to...

We had 2 nights at the hotel and although basic, the service from those on reception was really fantastic. The room and bathroom were clean and basic but still had character. We had an amazing view from the balcony towards the acropolis and doubt you could get a better location for the cost. It is a budget hotel though but...

Chose Hotel Tempi for its quiet but central location, communal kitchen, luggage storage, and very reasonable rates (including discount for one week stay). We are delighted by the view of the Acropolis from our balcony and, on the square below, the flower market. The shower is hot, beds comfortably firm with nice linen, service excellent, and (surprisingly) wireless internet., What...

We stayed there for 10 nights, started off late Sept for 5nights, then went around Greece.there for another 3 nights and then another 2 before we went...

Althru it's nothing fantastic but it's definitely their best room. Cons 1) The room looks dirty and old 2) The shower is going to...

We have just returned form 3 nights in Hotel Tempi. Just like anyone else has written, the location of this hotel is perfect. We booked a triple room, but the first night we had to stay in a double room (room 11) with an extra "bed". Not that bad, but I can imagine that if you have back problems you...

Book here only if you need somewhere to crash after sightseeing all day! This isn't the coziest of places for chilling out and making yourself at home. It worked for us since we only stayed one night in Athens (a big, ugly, dirty city covered in graffiti, but a must for seeing the Acropolis and such), but for three of...

Your basic traveller's hotel. Small rooms, clean though, and they were very loud at night with all the doors slamming around you. Convenient location, a bit overpriced for what it was, but then again so was Athens...don't expect the desk staff to be very helpful with travel arrangements, etc.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
