A nicely kept mid-range hotel for those who'd rather spend their money on activities other than hotel room, yet want a minimum of comfort and convenience. For 50 Euro a night you get a nice, clean, smallish(but hey, this is Europe...) room with a comfortable bed, clean sheet, air conditioning works, hot water, helpful staff, fast wifi connection and a...

Everything you can expect from a 3 star hotel and a little extra. I had a small but excellent room: very good bed, good little bathroom (shower, no tub), very good air conditioning; sheets and towels were changed every day. The hotel does not have a restaurant (there are plenty of decent places in the neighbourhood), but a nice [coffee]...

We stayed for just 1 night in Athens and booked this hotel because it was recommended to us by some travellers who we met while visiting the greek islands. Location - The hotel is very close to the metro station...about a 5 minute walk. It is only 2 metro stations to the acropolis (this was the pretty much what we...

The hotel is exactly what you booked for, nothing special. Then again, it says 3 stars and that is what you get. The front desk is helpful, and the area is busy, so don't be suprised with noise from the streets. The wifi wouldn't connect but in the lobby there is a computer and it is free pf charge. Everything...

Stayed here one night when we first arrived in Greece. Not hard to find at all - it was a few minutes walk from the metro. The metro stop nearby was a bit of a gritty area, but a lot of Athens is really. The hotel was perfect inside for two young female travelers. We felt safe, and the room...

when we checked in I was a little skeptical because the hotel room was very small and there was a faint scent of cat urine in the closet. The receptionist was extremely helpful with anything we asked him for. The waitresses were always very happy and loved to hold my daughter which helped us have a little quiet time while...

The hotel was in Omonia and about a 5-minute walk to the subway (Omonia station). It's in the city centre and everything else worth seeing is within close distance by subway (flat rate for the same zone). I read that there were a number of ho's in the streets leading up to the hotel, but didn't really find any. Maybe...

I originally booked Stalis Hotel which was apparently the sister hotel of Parnon. After a rip of taxi ride EUR 20 from Syntagma to Omonia area, we got to Stalis, and the receptionist said they were full despite my booking done months ago. He was quite helpful though redirected us to Parnon which was apparently more expensive place nearby and...

We stayed here for a couple of days for sight seeing in Athens. For a hotel in Omonoia square it is quite cheap but does not offer anything above the price. Rooms are cramped, you can hardly move, plenty of noise from within and outside. Avoid the breakfast, served by disgruntled waitresses, not worth even half the price they charge....

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
