Stayed here last May 2014 en route to Santorini. The hotel facilities were very good - our room has a balcony, no decent views out of it but has been maintained tidy and clean. The bathroom was very cozy with minute sinks. Noise levels can be average at some nights which can be disruptive though overall we had decent sleeps....

This hotel had a great location (easy walk to the Acropolis, restaurants and shopping). The rooms were well lit, clean, the bathrooms okay. We were on the first floor with no view. However the roof bar had a fantastic view and great service. The staff were helpful. Our biggest issue was that noise seemed to carry too well. You can...

The Adonis Hotel is an average hotel (or maybe a little bit better, but not four stars). The price is okay and the location is very good. You can walk to the metro station Syntagma, that has a direct connection to the airport (nr. 3), and to the most important sights (such as acropolis and its new museum, ancient and...

We stayed here for five nights in May 2014. The location in Plaka is in the historic and tourist-oriented, older part in the centre of Athens. It is a clean, safe and friendly neighbourhood, picturesque, and easy access to all that you would want to do in Athens. It is only 10-15 minutes walk from the Acropolis (which you can...

We stayed at the Adonis Hotel for five nights total, split up during our visit to Greece. This was where we came back to whenever we were in Athens. We reserved it early and specified a room with a view of the Acropolis. When we first got to our room the first night and opened the curtains, there was the...

This small hotel is located in Plaka, in the very centre of Athens only 10-15 minutes by walking from the Akropolis, only a few minutes from plenty of tavernas and shops and approximately 5 minutes from Sintagma square from where the train to airport arrives/departs. The position could not be better. The room was very small for three persons and...

Last year, I had made the right choice in going there so I want back and I was right. True that the location is perfect but they are other hotels in the area. True that you can take your breakfast overlooking the Acropolis but I guess this is not the place. The difference is : Georges, Nikos, Giannis and Sandra…...

I spent two nights at Hotel Adonis. My room was quite spacious leaving plenty of room to unload luggage. The bathroom was small but serviceable. We did unfortunately have to deal with water leaking all over the floor whenever anyone took a shower. Noise was a recurring issue as our room was located beside the main stairwell but this is...

I organised my birthday in Athens with 17 guests coming from all over Europe. Most of them didn't know Athens. The Adonis hotel was just perfect. All the main monuments are located from a walking distance. The rooms are clean, don't trust all the comments you can read. The staff was always super helpful and answered all my questions, day...

I stayed in this hotel for 2 separate nights, 1 on the 3rd floor with a view of the acropolis and 1 on the 2nd floor. The location is perfect! A short walk to the acropolis, which is also very near to the museum. The hotel is also very near to the cafes and restaurants. The 3rd floor room is...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
