Its a budget hotel and dont expect much from it. I recommend this hotel if you are staying for a short while. I just booked it for 1 night as I had transfer flight the next day to Santorini. As I checked reviews on trip advisor, I was bit scared to stay in this hotel. But this hotel is not...

Unlike others said we didnt faced any problems with bed bugs..Our room is A/C room with private bathroom.Receptionist was friendly.I agree that this street was dirty and a bit scary. You have to be cautious and its very close to bus stop.Room is clean..Wifi is ok..bathroom is small.

Old furniture and dirty sheets. The hotel is noisy with people coming and going all the time and shouting in the corridor all night. When I woke up the next day to no water to have a shower or brush my teeth I went to complain to the manager whom literally laughed and said if I wasn't happy I could...

I read reviews in the days before my trip and decided to not stay here ( non refundable booking ) and booked instead at Hotel Tempi which was 2x the amount but well worth my peace of mind. Definitely an unsafe area of Athens and I wasn't willing to meet the bed bugs.

http://loradelove.blogspot.com/ I needed to book an accommodation for a quick business trip and that is why I was looking for affordable option, with a strong wireless close to the venue as well as the city centre. The two bed room with a bathroom cost me around 80€ for 4 nights (not including the breakfast).....more in the blog

On the map, location seems excellent. But when I got a taxi to get there, even the driver was hesitant about driving to it! Apparently Omonia is a very dangerous area to be in at night, and the hotel itself has a very shady feel to it. The room can only be locked from the inside, which means that I...

I have bed bug bites all over my body from staying in this hotel for one night. Nil air con in 35 degree weather. I booked 3 nights- only lasted not even 12 hours. The photos on the website do not reflect reality. Room was dirty and felt like fan was going to fall on me during the night. Hotel...

We arrived in Omonia at 20:00 and we were really looking forward to go to the hotel leave our stuff there and go to the bars. Little did we know that booking a hotel in Omonia area is a big mistake. The hotel (which by the way was a hostel) looked much much nicer in the pictures. Quite decent and...

We stayed here for four nights in late June, the neibourhood is dodgy at night but in the day time is not so bad although the area is rundown. Our room was very basic and the ensuite was very third world, air con did not work which made for difficult sleep in Athenian summer. I found that travellers stayed here...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
