We stayed here for three days and we found it to be a very pleasant hotel. we booked there, after reading the reviews from tripadvisor. As the most of the reviews the staff was always friendly giving as any information we need any time we asked them. During the check in, they marked at a map, all the historical sites,...

Well, if Economy hotel is so good, I can't imagine the others hotels in Athens... Economy hotel (economic, only the name!!!) is very central. The staff is very helpful and nice. The breakfast is good but simple. You're in the drug-addicts and prostitutes area; it's a very dangerous areas; you have a sex-shop just in front of the hotel (so...

Booked for a weekend at the end of a week on one of the islands. Hotel is relatively well located - about 10m walk from the Plaka which then gets you to pretty much everywhere important in Athens. Also, it was relatively easy to get to from the airport using the metro and about a 10m walk (although I don't...

We enjoyed our stay at the Economy Hotel very much. I think we were given the nicest room of the hotel, 806.... we had a little balcony and a nice view on the square at the town hall. The bathroom looked very new, all in perfect order. Breakfast was fine. Selection is average, but plenty of food. The girl taking...

We used the Trip Advisor reviews to book this and were not dissapointed. A clean room (the maids were always in and around changing sheets etc) and small but functional bathroom. Centrally located we walked all around Athens from here and could jump on and off the metro as well. The staff were really helpful and made us packed brekkies...

Stayed at the hotel several nights, Sept. 2007. Location was good, reasonable walking distance to the Monistraki, where are reasonable restaurants and good tourist shopping. Breakfast was great and plentiful. People were very nice. I saw no problem with security; we walked outside day and night and always felt comfortable. You can actually walk up from the Monistraki to see...

After a long flight, the Economy Hotel was a decent choice for a 2 night stay in Athens. The booking process was outstanding, with a quick response to our reservation inquiry, and helpful answers to our questions regarding restaurants in the area. Things we liked: Our room had a balcony with a nice view...the beds were fairly comfortable...the hotel was...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
