We chose this hotel in particular for its location and for the kitchenettes (all rooms have one). On those two grounds, it scored well. The disappointing aspect was the breakfast which really is not “four star” standard. The hotel’s location is excellent – a few metres from Hadrian’s Gate and hence five minutes walk from the heart of the Plaka,...

For comfort and convenience, this was an excellent place to stay. The staff were professional and courteous and spoke good English. This hotel is located in downtown Platka so you can walk almost anywhere. Local people were friendly and food was great.

I have booked the hotel "site unseen" on internet. I was concerned about the accessibility for disabled guest so I booked the larger room (I think it was called the "executive suite"). It turned out that it was a VERY larg room (actually: two rooms: a "day" room and a bedroom). Large bathroom and a kitchenette corner with all the...

The grounds and accommodations at the hotel are fine and the staff is incredibly courteous. The hotel itself is also located perfectly in the Plaka, just steps from the Acropolis. All that said, however, the hotel had significant construction at the time we visited beginning early in the morning and ending late in the evening, including in the room right...

We had a suite and it was absolutely a perfect way to end our vacation. Everyone was extremely attentive and the hotel was classic and beautiful. Would definitely stay there again. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but I heard it was good food from passing guests.

We chose the option of having someone pick us up at the airport, and are very glad we did. Yiannis (siatounis28 at gmail dot com) picked us up and answered our questions about Athens on the ride in. At the end of our trip, he took us to the train station and went in with us and stood in line...

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the Plaka near the Acropolis and other sites. Our room was a suite with wet bar kitchenette and refrigerator. Nice size bathroom and shower. Small balcony that overlooked the back of the building. Very helpful front desk. Tv had Greek channels and CNN. Breakfast was plentiful. It was a beautiful clean hotel and...

Heading says it all really. Rooms were comfortable. Quite small but adequate. We had the larger "suite" which was more than adequate. Bathroom / shower room was small, but not a squeeze. Staff were amazingly helpful. Organised a good tour guide for us, recommended restaurants and really wanted to help. Walking distance from everything important in Athens.

We were lucky enough to spend a few days in Athens and I booked Ava based on other recommendations - and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is! Super friendly staff, good amenities, great location, brilliant room (although the floors were hard and you might get some noise from neighbours) with everything you would need, including a...

Good location, good facilities, efficient service & clean. Friendly staffs & helpful. It's along the route you take to complete the historical sites. You have everything, eateries, shopping, historical sites, local products and souvenirs within close walking distance. The only shortcoming is that it does not provide mineral water.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
