we were there in the beginning of August. it is a very small hotel with BB and it's clean. we paid 20 euro per person per night and the hotel has a great location; very near to Acropolis, Monastraki, and Plaka! transportation to the airport or Pireaus port is also very easy from the hotel.

The Hotel Nefeli is in Plaka, on a street that runs parallel to Kidathenaeion St. The street is not particularly noisy as the majority of tourists wander down the parallel street. It is a family -run hotel and the owners are extremely helpful. There is A/C and a lift, and prices are cheap in comparison ot other hotels in the...

The staff are friendly but don't have alot of information on touristy things Athens. The location is great. You can walk almost everywhere including the Acropolis and Syntagma metro station. It's a little difficult to find as it's on a backstreet but that makes it quiet at night. The breakfast isn't worth getting up for. The shower floods the entire...

I stayed at the Nefeli for 3 nites in June and went island hopping and returned for 2 nites in July. The staff Yannis, Maria and George were helpful and friendly. Maria arranged a taxi for me at a reasonable price to the airport. I had booked a taxi for a very high price and she was so honest and...

We've stayed at the Nefeli every time we've been in Athens for the last ten years or so. It's clean, well-run, affordable, and in a convenient location in the Plaka, within walking distance of two Metro stops (arrive via Syntagma and walk downhill to the Nefeli, then leave via Monastiraki and walk downhill from the Nefeli). The hotel staff are...

My husband and I stayed here for a total of 5 nights and found it enjoyable. It was within walking distance to everywhere - on the edge of the Plaka district - which was great for shops, eating out and of course the Acropolis. The room itself was tiny and old, but clean enough and everything worked. The breakfast wasn't...

Pros- This hotel is located in a touristy, safe neighborhood in Athens (which can be quite a concern in this city), within walking distance of all the major sites, and the shopping district. Most hotels in this area cost a lot more. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. They offered wakeup calls, arranged our taxi to the airport,...

Excellent location! Just around the corner from Adrianou. It's clean and good. It's not fancy or luxury, but it's a great value for the price. Very nice and helpful staff. I'll definitely keep this place in mind on my next trip back to Athens.

Don't expect too much from this hotel, this is simply a cheap place to stay. The rooms (at least the one where we stayed) was quite worn and there was no sign of the renovation they mention on the website. Breakfast was the same every morning, a hard-boiled egg, a slice of cake, some slices of bread (cracknel), butter, marmalade,...

This hotel is right on the edge of the touristy Plaka. A quick walk to dining and 5-10 minutes to the Acropolis and it's amenities. The corner the hotel is on itself is not the nicest right now, but as soon as the corner is turned, you are back in beautiful strolling streets. We didn't have an views from our...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
