Getting there
Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Named after the Castalian Spring in which pilgrims to Delphi would refresh and purify themselves before entering the sanctuary, the Kastalia’s location (the closest hotel to the archaeological site) makes it ideal to fulfil at least one of those functions today.
Rear rooms (surprisingly spacious) have stunning views over the Pleistos valley to the Gulf of Corinth, as does the terraced outdoor restaurant. Food is modern Greek - we enjoyed excellent shrimp carpaccio and seabass ceviche with a bottle of lightly oaked Manteio dry white from the nearby Argyriou winery, along with interesting conversation about wine with the knowledgable staff. And on a breezy autumn night on the terrace blankets and a table-side heater allowed enjoyment of food and view in comfort.
The rooms are spotless, the team is friendly and helpful and the generous breakfast will set you up for the exertions of the world heritage Delphi archaeological site which is not only large but spread across steep hillsides.
Kastalia will refresh and recharge at both ends of the day. A keeper.

We stayed at this property for one night while visiting the sights at Delphi. The staff is friendly, therooms are simple but comfortable, and we were pretty excited to see an elevator after staying in several hotels and pensions around the Peloponnese. It's relatively quiet if you have a room facing away from the main street (bonus: beautiful scenic view of the valley), and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good, with something for almost everyone. The bathroom could have used some attention (we had some mildew in our shower), but that was the only real issue.

Welcoming staff with spectacular views. Rooms are basic with well sized bathrooms. The whole facility is spotless. The location is right in the middle of the small town so there is a plethora restaurants and shopping options. The breakfast solid. The happy hour is a nice way to enjoy the view.

We stayed for one night in June to visit the archaeological sight. The Hotel is centrally located in town so is walking distance to everything including the Delphi site if you wanted to walk there. There is no parking at the Hotel but we had no problem finding a park just 50 metres down the road. Reception was very welcoming and they have an elevator which was good as we had been forced to lug our own suitcases upstairs at a couple of other places. The room was nothing spectacular but was nice and modern and clean and we had a small balcony with a great view. We didn't dine in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was large with a nice variety. We would be happy to stay there again.

This wasn’t a great one. The bathroom is an interesting setup with old toilet lids and dirty shower curtains with plastic rings. The shower easily runs over the bench in the TINY shower flooding the floor. Our bed had a thin mattress that was somehow higher at the foot of the bed than the head. We got a room with a sea view but our window showed a roof with a corner that looked into the dining area. Maybe you could squint to see the sea in a tiny corner.

A perfect place for a visit to Delphi. Easily accessible from the bus stop, centrally located so that all sites are within walking distance. The room was comfortable, clean, and having the coffee was a great addition. Breakfast is good and plentiful, and the salad I ate at the restaurant was fresh and delicious. More than anything - the staff. Friendly, helpful, giving the feeling of old friends, not of Front Desk. Thanks to Ilania and Effi for making this such a memorable experience

Arriving in the rooms I left the city of Delphi to be sure that we were at the Kastalia Hotel in Delphi in Greece... both the opinions on Trip and on the backpacker are far from the reality experienced. We had booked two rooms with a sea view...the rooms had a sea view if you are willing to see the sea through the windows of the adjoining restaurant room (rooms 303 and 304). Not happy, I insisted at reception that they offer me another room...room 205, my grandmother's bathroom, internal sound insulation close to nothing, no safe, no iron , by cupboard, a rack with 3 hangers (real number). In short I thought this hotel was given for a 4 star but even 1 star for what I saw is already too much. The sheets with hair and not just one...response from the receptionist "but when the beds aren't made it's like at home you can lose hair"....response "absolutely but at home, in my bed, it's my hair or my wife's hair in which case it doesn't like me" I invite you to look at the photos So flee!

The pictures of this hotel look very cute, and it is very pretty from the outside. However, I'm not sure how this can be considered a 4 star hotel. Thankfully we were only here one night (only about 14 hours really), otherwise I would have found another place to stay. The room needed repairs and the bathroom - I'm not even sure how to describe the bathroom. It was barely functional. If you flushed the toilet or if the shower was running water would not come out of the sink faucet. The plumbing looked very antique, and not in a good way. I did not shower because I could not bring myself to use what they considered to be a shower. The room was so small you had to turn sideways to walk around the bed. The room wasn't dirty, but it didn't feel clean either. Maybe it was just the room we were assigned to; we weren't there long enough to complain and were too tired to move rooms. All other hotels on our Greece vacation were very nice, so maybe we were just spoiled, but I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay here again. Keep driving and stay in Arachova instead. The staff were friendly enough but not as welcoming as in other spots we visited. Positives: The breakfast was plentiful and very good, and the view of the valley was beautiful. The hotel does have an elevator which is helpful.

We booked based positive reviews and nice pictures of the hotel. The pictures made it look like a relatively modern place.
In reality everything is quite old and worn out. It might be clean but it doesn't seem clean, especially the bathrooms. Towels and linens had stains in them. The rooms also didn't smell very nice.
We actually considered leaving after one of our 2 booked nights.
The breakfast is minimal. Two varieties of toast bread and one variety of bun. The coffee is nespresso, choice between 2 varieties, one of the 2 sides of the only machine was blocked.
After we booked we received a message about a supplementary charge (tourist tax), fair enough but why not include it in the price mentionned on bookingsites?

The hotel is located in the centre of Delphi, within easy reach. We can park along the alley, free of charge. There is no private parking at the hotel. The rooms and public areas have recently been tastefully renovated. The view from our room was wonderful, I was satisfied to have chosen a room with sea views:) Small downside, the seaside rooms are located just above the terrace where breakfast is served and so we feel a little too exposed, just renovate the terrace cover to gain privacy. We had dinner at the hotel, the small menu is interesting, but the atmosphere a bit tristounette. Breakfast on the other hand was a wonder: quality and quantity of buffet, efficient and smiling service. We settled on the terrace in the sun... it was really wonderful to start the day like this. One of the most beautiful memories of our trip to Greece.

The breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:00 am in the restaurant. The hotel is relativelly new and yes, I think that all guest rooms were remodeled but I really not sure. If you want, you have an e-mail to contact directly the hotel in their web page. Have a nice stay there.
There are more places to choose from in the Delphi area.
