I've stayed here 3 times as it is conveniently located in Vesterbro and two short blocks from the main train station. The rooms are nicely furnished with teak furniture from Indonesia but are very small - especially the bathrooms (about 4-1/2 ft. x 6-1/2 ft). My most recent stay there was in summer and the rooms can get very stuffy...

We were there is the dead heat of the summer, only to learn there was no air-conditioning (their curt reply was that it's only hot once and awhile). They had a fan in the room, but it sounded like a helicopter taking off when you turned it on--not conducive to sleep. Then I could have opened the windows, but since...

Ok first off. Location wise, great! Easy to just walk into town. Tivoli is right near by, there are supermarkets around the corner and nice restaurants too. There is a great beer bar on the street parallel to the hotel called mikeller. Great for beer lovers. Next, appearance. Lovely. I like the fact that the first thing you see is...

Pros *Location is Pretty good. Near the train station and Tivoli (which is a must). Otherwise it is a bit of a walk to other sights and restaurants. Only about 15-20 minutes though. There is one strip club across the road and a few sex shops in the area. I'm pretty fussy and I can honestly say that these were...

By coincidence we found this hotel and have been charmed by it. Thorough Eco-style hotel, charming bedrooms with great beds, very friendly service and a fantastic eco-breakfast. Bring a good book and start the day with taking time to wake up, eat breakfast and prepare for wonderful Copenhagen

I had high hopes for the hotel, unfortunately they were not what I received. The location is great, a short walk from the central station and located in Vesterbro, an area that people would once avoid, which is now gentrified apart from a handful of strip clubs and bums that won't cause you any concern. Our room lacked the room...

I visited this same hotel just over a year ago and gave it a great review. Based on my last visit, I booked again for my visit to Copenhagen this past week (July 2014). I was traveling with my mother so I had to book two rooms, as they did not have rooms with two beds (other than bunk beds...

What's good is the location which is central and a 10 mins walk to Tivoli Garden, the train station & the stops for the hop on hop off buses. The tourist information office was most helpful & informative. The help yourself tea & snacks were nice too! What's not so good is the steps up to the entrance and more...

After a two year hiatus we returned to Copenhagen and the Axel, and enjoyed both. It is a short walk from central station (five minutes maximum), an easy walk into central Copenhagen, and a block over from the beer mecca Mikkeller Bar and their restaurant Ol & Brod. Yes, there are some street noises on the weekend--the hookers (who work...

Our room was comfortable with a welcome sitting area, though the bathroom (shower, no bath) was a little small. The little snacks and apples available free each day are a nice touch. The Axel's location is easily walkable from the central railway station (even with cases in tow) and within walking distance of the main sights, and walking is the...

Staying in Inner Vesterbro

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner Vesterbro
This neighbourhood is home to Tivoli Gardens, a world famous amusement park and beautiful garden always worth a visit. Just west of Tivoli, you’ll find Copenhagen Central Station, from where you can reach just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours, or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15 minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the middle of “old” Vesterbro, where several cultures and hundreds of languages are spoken in an area not more than one square mile. This neighbourhood is considered one of the most trendy places to live in and to visit in Copenhagen. For a real treat, visit Kødbyen ("meat town"), home to several restaurants, cafés and nightclubs, all within a short walk of each other.
