Haymarket is a Great hotel at a Great Place in Stockholm. Very good for sightseeing and going out in the city. Everything can be reached soon. Liked especially the bar music at night! Very friendly staff. We want to come back!
We had a fantastic stay at Haymarket by Scandic and highly recommend the hotel! The service is very good and also the location. We also enjoyed the breakfast a lot. We are already looking forward to the next visit there!
This hotel is very comfortable, stylish and strategically located in Stockholm's downtown, close to most of key points of this magnificent city. Fantastic breakfast. Extremely comfortable bed. Perfectly soundproofed room. Very kind and efficient personnel. Nice and cosy Art Deco American bar, open till quite late night. A very very pleasant stay. We will back in our next Stockholm trip.
SCANDIC HAYMARKET- Great staff & brilliant décor but needs a bit of an update! I am a huge fan of the Scandic brand and I was really looking forward to staying at the Scandic Haymarket as I’d heard so much about this signature hotel. I booked over a week staying in the suite and initially one is quite taken aback at the brilliant interior design which, as many have already pointed out, is based on the classic art-deco style that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into the roaring 20s. So what’s good? The bars are fantastic and the food at Greta’s is brilliant. The service from the cocktail bar is great. If you’re a vegetarian and you’re not fond of shellfish you might be left with few choices but what they do serve is well worth the price point. Furthermore, if you don’t fancy what’s on the menu you can always order a take-away or find an alternative restaurant in Stockholm. The Haymarket is one of the most central hotels in Stockholm and yet despite being incredibly close to everything, including trains to the airport, I never once felt the noise of the city get in the way of a peaceful night in the suite. So what’s bad? There’s a lot of things that need improving. In short, the biggest failure is the poor state of the suite. There are stains aplenty whether in the bed, sofa or carpets. On entering the room itself, the toilets needed flushing and the surfaces needed wiping down because of the build-up of dust and a sticky substance on the bedside tables. Within the drawers of the cabinets there were leftovers from previous occupiers. See the photos I’ve attached to this review. A major issue was the fact that the suite only includes a single large window in the “lounge” area. The adjacent bedroom consequently did not have any source of natural light or possibility of letting fresh air into the bedroom and therefore the pungent smell of stale air from previous guests was impossible to dispel throughout our stay. The lack of light in the bedroom made it feel grim, dull and small. The one window that the suite did feature sadly did not actually open despite its pretty amazing view of the square below. The room ultimately did not feel fresh or clean at all. We felt incredibly short-changed by the fact that we had paid for a suite but in fact had been given a room with no bedroom windows. Perhaps if given some advance notification on the website when making the booking that the suite came with a very awkward, non-openable window we would’ve felt differently but unfortunately this wasn’t the case. Finally, the suite at the Haymarket also states it comes with a record player as part of the unique facilities. This is a cute little gimmick and I was hoping to play some vinyl but alas there was no record player in our room. There was however a stack of scratched vinyl albums by Cliff Richard of all people! Ultimately, Haymarket by The Scandic is a great hotel. Is it worth staying at the suite? Not at the moment. Instead go to Greta’s, enjoy the experience and keep that hard-earned cash until Scandic spend some money on a deep-clean and refurb of their suites. Despite the majestic design of the hotel’s public areas conveying the glorious golden era of Hollywood, and while she’s only been calling herself a hotel for six years, the rooms are tired, worn and embedded with seemingly pre-historic stains.…
