This hostel has a lot of issues. Not enough toilets, quite ugly decor, somewhat makeshift rooms. But the worst of all of these are the beds. I was in an 8 bed dorm and it was absolutely impossible to sleep. Any minute movement, even just lifting a finger, would make the beds creak and whine like you wouldn't believe. And...

The following makes Birka a hostel I would visit anytime again... Great price: no other hostel in the given price range could offer a private bathroom. "Guest-friendliness": kind staff and free-to-use common kitchen including utensils, appliances and free pasta, coffee, tea. Location in the city centre: metro station almost next door, central bus/train station close, historic city centre in a...

We booked beds with Birka, but their booking system or them messed it up so they did not end up having beds for us. We even already paid, but they told us it was somehow OUR fault. Anyways, they were fully booked and the only thing they offered was checking other hostels for us, but we would still have to...

This was a good place to stay if you aren't traveling alone. The common room is not a very social place, but the location of the hostel was excellent. Towels and bed linens were provided, and the single private room was affordable. Good place if you just need somewhere to stay while you explore Stockholm with friends

Private ensuite rooms were very competitively priced. Of course for a small room, there might not be a window, but place is nice and quiet. The common area, kitchen and dining area were nice and in good condition. Those common areas also had good wifi coverage, but sadly wifi does not extend into most of the rooms. I would recommend...

Unfortunately we had to cut our Scandinavia trip short due to the death of an immediate family member. We were able to obtain a refund from all of our other accommodation however Birka simply refused to refund us the £90 despite giving them 3 days notice. We also asked them if it was possible to amend our dates to later...

We spent there only one night there. We had clean room for four. Our room was not big but also not small. Bed linen is free of charge. Reception is open from 10.00 - 21:00. Wifi is only in common areas. In our floor was only one toilet and closed shower. In my opinion there is not enough toilets and...

The location is good - a very short walk to Hotorget station. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Free coffee in the kitchen. Breakfast was good. The wifi did not work in the bedroom and it was inconvenient to have to go down to the common area whenever I wanted internet access. The price is reasonable.

There are two good things about this place: the strategic location and the free tea/coffee/pasta. The rest are off-putting. First, they did not reply to customers request for early check in. Apparently, I was not the only person who are facing this issue. Scroll down and you may see a similar case. After 8 hrs of a sleepless overnight bus...

Maybe other rooms are ok, but in a room of barely 4 m2 I am feeling like in a cell. To pay SEK 496.33/night for it seems outrageous to me. The management doesn't even let me talk to them for a refund as I want to move out. The room is not even on the plan of the rooms on...
