Ideal water location basically next to the Palace. Very friendly staff and nice restaurant whith a warm athmosphere and great view towards the water. Worth mentioning is the tastefully done Christmas decoration (have been there first weekend of Dec) and a truly excellent breakfast buffet which includes various fish as one would expect being in the North. Cool bar with...

Stayed here for a Chistmas market break with the family. The good points: location (location, location!): not many hotels on Gamla Stan, but this is one of them. Nice position on the harbour, and 2 mins walk from the Christmas market in the market square. All hotel staff were excellent, and very helpful. (Especially the Maitre d' at breakfast). Breakfast...

Stayed here in business for a few nights. Sadly due to the short days at this time if year, I did not get a true sense of its setting. But it is across the road from the quayside and is probably a eye popping location. Behind the hotel are the narrow streets of Gamla Stan. These cobbled streets are narrow...

Hotel Reisen has an excellent location and nice ambiente. Some rooms are however really tiny, and the bathroom needs to be modernised. Breakfast is OK. The grand old times seem to be gone, but there is a way back if the management is ready to invest.

On the down side my room was small and seriously in need of refurbishment in places. The bath/shower was also tiny which didn't bother me too much as I always shower but I couldn't imagine taking a bath there. On the plus side I was there for business and I found it a great working environment. As well the breakfast...

Tiny room, dirty and rather worn, makes a bad impression. There was a collection of hair on the drain in bathroom, room and bathroom is rather worn, with chips here and there, poorly or not at all patched. Floppy shower head, screaming tap, a/c that did not work and a worn mattress. No safety deposit box, no hotel guest guide,...

The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful in pointing out the various attractions, how to get around to them and so on. The rooms were a bit small and some faced the side wall of the next building. If you upgrade to the waterfront, you will see a beautiful sight. Breakfast is sufficient and has a good...

We stayed at the First Reisen in July. The Hotel is in a great location, central to everything. The staff at the front desk are VERY nice and helpful. Really made us feel welcome. The Hotel is updated and clean.

A nice clean hotel lovely placed by the harbour in the old town. Serviceminded and friendly staff. Good resturant with a good menu with a large selection of wine. Clean, medium sized standard rooms, bathroom with a bathtub. The bed was a terrible experiance, my back still hurts after two days... I got a romm facing an alley, sadley enough...

We recently spent four nights in this hotel, we had a room on the 6th floor (608) which had a good view overlooking the waterfront. We chose this room on advice from other reviews to avoid the noise from the bar and traffic. The room although comfortable and quiet, could do with a "lick of paint" and some of the...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
