This relatively new hotel is a great place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and residential while fun bars and tourist locations are within a quick walk. the front desk staff greeted us warmly, and were very helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are just the right size, with a spacious bathroom. Breakfast is plentiful and suits most tastes,...

I visited Rival for a Birthday party occasion on Friday, A very nice service, exquisite food whether it is fish or meat or food for vegetarians. A friendly charming atmosphere at the bar. English speaking service is available. The place of the restaurant is central with a outlook of the park on the Maria Torg--Square. If you stay at the...

This is a very nice (very nice) hotel on a square and close to old city. Room is great as is food. Staff very helpful. We were there in mid-november and discovered that Stockholm does NOT cope well with snow (much less so than we do in New England) so ice on side walks and a tad hard to get...

I stayed in one of the economy single rooms and even though it's a small room, it was more than big enough for a four day trip on my own. The hotel is beautifully furnished everywhere and it was kept spotless. I had breakfast in the restaurant every morning and the buffet selection was varied and the staff were very...

The hotel was just as pleasant and comfortable as it had been on our first visit. There were still the pillow menu, the teddy bear, and the mysterious window between the bathroom and the rest of the room. They say this is so you can watch TV while you shower. You can also adjust the TV sound in the bathroom...

The warm hospitality and comfortable rooms offered by Hotel Rival were a Stockholm vacation highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in September. When we arrived the first staff person we met offered us coffee, and then offered to watch our bags so we could enjoy our coffee. The quality of service provided to guests is exceptional. The hotel is in...

We stayed at the Hotel for three nights prior to travelling to Abisko in Northern Sweden. The hotel is in a great position reasonably secluded but close to the attractions and local ferry transfers. The main standout for us was the staff in the Hotel. They went out of there way be be helpful, polite and always welcoming whether it...

We stayed three nights at the Hotel Rival and were well pleased with our base for the short break in Stockhom. The room was small but well furnished and had everything that we needed, including an umbrella to take with us during the day: that certainly came in handy. The location was about 250m from the Mariatorget underground station (2...

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
