I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It is in a great location, on a nice square with a fountain, which is a nice place to sit and take a break from sightseeing. The hotel staff was great, very helpful. The breakfast buffet was great. There is a client area with an espresso machine, water and biscuits that is available... More

Comfortable stay at this hotel for night pre a conference. Probably best hotel bed I have slept in. Rooms are not large, but offer anything you would look for and have a nice comfortable feel. Some Dvd and cd to entertain, although in this age a iPhone dock would prob be more useful:) It does give a homely atmosphere, and... More

We stayed three nights in mid to late September and were very pleased with the hotel. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The room, although a bit small, was well appointed, relatively modern and had USB chargers for devices. Very cool. The location is Sodermalm across from a small square is great, easy enough to get to most tourist spots,... More

We enjoyed our 5-night stay at the Rival. A really good hotel with excellent and helpful staff. Location was perfect, within very easy reach of the underground and just a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Old Town. Our bedroom however was a let down. Very small, definitely smaller than what we are use to. It had a boxed wardrobe... More

We were allocated a standard room at the back of the hotel which looked out over other buildings. Although well appointed, the room felt dark, perhaps due to the wood finish around the internal bathroom. It was perfectly comfortable though. The hot drinks bar on our floor was a very welcome facility, as were the biscuits there ! The breakfast... More

We have now stayed here three times in a period of several years. Every time has been a top experience. Beautiful and cosy rooms, lively atmosphere with bar and restaurant at street leve and a location off the buzz but not far away. Breakfast is a treat and then we just walk into this stunning city.

Almost perfect ! Really small room , charming but small, the room and bathroom needed more light. Daily stock of toiletries ( shampoo, conditioner, body wash) minimal. We were 2 people and we needed more shampoo and body wash. Staff is incredible ! Friendly and ready to answer any question. The hotel is situated in a perfect location, just a... More

Stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend stay in Stockholm partly to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert. Very impressed with this hotel, I would give it 4.5 if I could but for me this ticked all the boxes. This hotel is/was part of a Theatre and if you want to depart from a chain hotel but... More

We liked the Rival Hotel - everything worked as it should, beds were comfortable, nice Egyptian cotton bedding and Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, extensive breakfast buffet with no extra charge for hot food and cooked-to-order dishes. We also liked the free cappuccino machine and iced water dispenser on the 4th floor, next to where the computers for guests are sited.... More

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
