We stayed here before Christmas last year with my fiancees family and since then my family in law has stayed again and they raved about the geat service given to them from the staff. They have gone out of their way to assist us with any of our requirements. Our room was perhaps on the smaller side, but I know...

This was the second time we've stayed at Hotel Rival (the last time was in 2006), and it's now become one of my all-time favorite hotels. On this most recent trip, it was one of nine hotels we stayed at while traveling through Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, and it was probably the best as far as customer service, location, and...

I chose this hotel after reading the reviews on here and I have to say I was not at all disappointed. This is a funky, small hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff. I asked for 2 rooms close together on one of the higher floors and that's what we got. Our rooms over looked the square and in the...

This hotel is supposed to be very hype and modern. And perhaps it is modern, but for the price you pay it is not up to standard. The room was confortable, with a very comfy bed. But the lighting in the room was poor, it was quite dark although all lights were on. The zink in the bathroom was quite...

After only spending 5 hours in Stockholm on our cruise my boyfriend and myself (from Los Angeles, Ca) ended up flying back to Stockholm from Copenhagen to spend an extra 3 nights at Hotel Rival. I highly recommend that if you can, try to spend more time in Stockholm if you are on a cruise. The flight from Copenhagen to...

Stayed at the Rival with our 3 small children in 2 interconnecting rooms for 4 days. We would have preferred a single suite to accommodate all but the hotel does not have such a room. Hotel is in a residential funky neighborhood with a park in front that has a sand pit and swings. One of our rooms was adequately...

The hotel is very nice, location is excellent - walking distance to all locations. Bar outside very trendy, always full of locals enjoying a tea or coffee in front of a beautiful public garden. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect english. Breakfast was superb - all you can think they had and all of high standard quality. Only...

This hotel is in a very good location. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the complimentary coffee provided at the fourth floor coffee point was very good. Our spacious deluxe room (510) was very nicely furnished with two armchairs, a desk with its own chair and a small balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard. However, while the bathroom...

We had a great two-night stay at the Hotel Rival at the end of a Baltic cruise. The front desk was extremely helpful in booking the reservation, in then adjusting it when our daughter (young adult) decided to stay with us for some additional time in Europe instead of flying immediately back to the US as originally planned, and in...

This hotel is very nice facing a square with fountain and just blocks from the old town area. Our room was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast is exceptional. Staff was professional, knowledgable and helpful. Not cheap but has a number of positives as noted above. A good choice for Stockholm.

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
