My wife and me spent this weekend in the suite 704, and we were really surprised by this hotel. The design was very tasteful, the room was clean and very pleasant, and the service was just top. We were welcomed by champagne, strawberries and chokolade (ok, I did preorder it!), but it was just perfect for a nice and romantic...

Hotel rival is fabulous. Lovey place to stay, easy walk to all attractions and hop on hop off boats and bus. Rooms with balconies overlooking the square are very comfortable. Great breakfast and very very good restaurant and wines. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 4 nights in August 2012. The location is very good - as it is not in the crowded bustling old town, but in a quieter adjacent area - just a short walk away. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had booked superior and paid a little extra on arrival to upgrade to one of the top...

Probably one of the best hotel rooms I've stayed in, and we usually stay in 4/5star hotels in London and the continent. I think it was Superior (I left the booking to my husband). Roomy, good design, hugely comfortable bed, balcony (forgiving the plastic flowers) overlooking the square. Woke up each day thinking it was raining, but it was only...

This hotel feels modern and sophisticated but is fun. The staff were helpful and generous with maps and info and the rooms have nice little touches (the music, DVDs, candy, blankets for sitting on the balcony, the little shuttered window from the bathroom to the room, the umbrella, etc.) The breakfasts were AMAZING and had so much to choose from--the...

I had an awesome 5 nights stay at the Rival. When you arrive, you feel like entering an old movie theatre, and it was a theatre before. The exciting decor of the bar, and the lobby reminded me a 1940's night club in New York. I was upgraded to a suite, with a terrace and a great view on Stockholm's...

Hotel rival is considered pricey for the size of the rooms offered. However, rooms are newly renovated and clean. Hotel staff are well trained and provide good service. Gamla Stan is nearby but requires a bit of walking (10 mins) to get there. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Really enjoyed our stay at this sophisicated hotel. Liked everything about it. Lobby was cool. Front desk staff were professional and friendly. Sean the concierge made dinner reservations for us at Pubology which was great. We had a room with balcony so room itself was large. Breakfast was fresh, staff friendly and laid back. Bistro very popular with the locals...

Hotel Rival has it completely own special flavour – Stayed at the Rival several times over the last 6-8 years and have always been meet by a very friendly staff. The rooms are not big, but very functional and includes all you can expect from at high standard business hotel. However, Rival is much more than a ordinary business hotel...

I wish we had stayed more than 1 night! You could spend a day just admiring the decor and furnishings! Well placed, only 10 minutes' walk from Gamla Stan. Good sized room facing the park. Huge bathroom with shower and bath and plenty of shelving for toiletries. Room service was punctual and reasonably priced. Please note that breakfast is included...

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
