The room we got was really small, and in the basement with no windows. We became almost claustrophobic to have to stay here because the weather was warm in August and there were no windows to open in the room, nor in the common areas . The common spaces are reasonable, television, internet access and sofas can be found. By...

I stayed in Hostel bed and breakfast because my friend had his young son and thought a hostel would be a good experience for one night. However it was a nightmare and I had a very bad sleep for the reasons: 1- it was in the basement and without windows. 2 the quality of mattress was very low. 3- the...

Stayed here for one night in a single room and I cannot recommend the place. The hostel is located in the basement and has been up to date 25 years ago. Stone floor and small hallways make for a unwelcome feeling. The bed was very small and very soft. The room also very small. Breakfast was ok (toast and cerials),...

Our first impression was good: friendly staff, bed sheets were clean, free Wi-Fi, and free coffee & tea. We stayed in a shared bedroom with 4 people. Rooms and bathrooms were quite poorly ventilated. Beds were uncomfortable. At night, we heard a nerve-wracking sound from the ceiling; thought that there were mice in the roof. Breakfast could be better: bread...

The rooms were fine. The bunk beds were noisy but still a good size and comfortable enough. It was nice to have breakfast included even though it was only slices of bread and buttermilk. They offer free coffee and tea which is nice. The hostel is near big shopping streets so it's great for a shopping trip and it's walking...

Booked this on a last minute as I needed something for just one night. The person at the reception was very friendly, and I felt welcome from the beginning. The room was basic but it was a great quality for the very affordable price I paid. The room and all the common areas were clean. The breakfast was also included...

It's a really nice and cosy hostel! It's very practical: only 2 stops from the station "T-centralen" (where the buses and the arlanda express arrives from the airport). During our stay we could visit everything on foot because it's not very far from all the things to see (for example 20 minutes from gamla stan). The boss (or receptionist?) Josef...

I stayed here for a short term study abroad and ended up with bed bugs in my room! They moved us to a new room but I was so creeped out by the bites and fear of bringing them home. A nice trip turned bad due to some poor rooms. PS I was told they were not bed bugs and...

I caught a taxi there because I didn't know and was too tired to bother trying to use public transport, but in hindsight it would have been super easy as there's a station literally across the street and one door across. The no shoes inside rule helps keep everything clean, especially when it rains. The bathrooms have changing areas outside...

Best part about this place is the location... close to the city center... very easy to reach by subway - take the green line and get down at Rådmansgatan and its right there. Lots of eating places and convenience stores in the vicinity. It is in the basement and you have to take out your shoes before entering. The place...

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.

“Find out the transit details for how to get there before you arrive at the train station - they're not helpful at the information desks and the signage is poor. Catching a taxi is very expensive and not worth it (I paid $45 AUD).”
