(+) Excellent location, in the middle of Old Town, as the name suggests. The beds are clean and comfortable, and there is a nice seating area next to the kitchen. (-) The kitchen is a little too small. The toilets were for the most part clean, but not fresh. The door knob of one of the big men's toilets was...

This hostel is at perfect location. And that is the only positive. It is underground and the room was too small for us. We have booked 4 persons room and we could not move when we were inside. No place for our big luggages and that was making our movement in the room even worse. The room did not have...

It's a nice dorm hostel with good kitchen facilities. The beds are not great and smelled a bit. But we slept good for a few nights. The door passes are blocked really fast because of the magnet. The location is right in the middle of the old city center and near a supermarkt. We had a good time!

This underground hostel had very small, cramped rooms but a really cool atmosphere. The staff were so lovely and patient. The kitchen was good and the wifi worked in the rooms. The showers smelt awful, but this was only a minor fault. Perfect location - situated right in the middle of Gamla Stan (arguably the prettiest part of Stockholm).

I'm not just writing this review for a chance to win the free smart phone, haha. This staff at this hostel cannot be beat. I'd they say make it as good as it is. They are friendly and patient and are willing to talk to you for as long as you need. It's a very popular place in a great...

Hostel is in the heart of Gamla Stan what it is and the only advantage . The rooms are small and full of dust . Hostel is in the basement which automatically leads to no light at all in the rooms . There is one female toilet and another joint . On Easter Sunday we realized that somebody stole ouhr...

If you don't already know, Stockholm is an expensive city. We came across this hostel pretty last minute and where attracted by its easy to reach location. It's a 20 minute walk to the central station, 15 minute walk to the city centre and surrounded by amazing cool bars and restaurants! The staff are friendly and so helpful! Kitchen was...

The location in Gamla Stan is great to instantly get out and explore. Not too far of a walk from Centralen or Gamla Stan tbana stops. The staff are friendly. I used the kitchen once, which was very easy, other guests were very friendly. I did not find the rooms too cramped, however the shower heads were small. Enjoyed my...

The hostel has a good location in the Old Town, so it is very convenient for the Gamla Stan and central parts of Stockholm. The best part was handing back the key and leaving. That is the end of the good. The hostel is badly run. The staff are only there a few hours each day, so there is little...

Hostel's rooms are very small but cute. Personnels are very kind. Also, Old town hostel is in the great location. In the hostel you can feel that you are cooking like in your home kitchen. However when I went there, my room was dusty but when I told the receptionist, she solved my problem immediately and in the evening my...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

“Ask about the type of room. The room for two can be a bed for two behind the partician and with your own key, no the "real room".”

“choose another hostel. There are FAR better hostels than this one in Stockholm, hostels with much better showers and toilets, and also hostels with staff there most of the day. I would not recommend this hostel at all.”

“Keep in mind that the hostel is underground, so no windows in the rooms. If you can't cope without natural light, you might want to reconsider staying here.”
