Detailed Reviews
We stayed in the Hotelli AVA for one night, and were very impressed with how CLEAN and quiet it was, the beds were very comfortable, the showers were hot, and the self-serve buffet breakfast provided, was as much as you wanted to eat with something to suit everyone; the staff were friendly and very helpful.
Obviously it is not a 5 star hotel, it is basic accomodation, but as I said before it was very clean, and the prices very good, especially if you were going to stay for a weekend. My husband and I will definately be going back to stay there again, and probably take the kids next time as a 3 roomed, 6 bedded appartment was only 117E for the night.

I have been in this hotel several times during my Helsinki visits. It´s between center of Helsinki railwail station and intrernational airport Helsinki-Vantaa.Let´s say it´s from 12minutes to the main railway station and the 12minutes to the airport Helsinki-Vantaa.100meters from the hotel you´ll found street called Hameentie where´s few tram connections and many bus connections to the centre and to out of the centre of the city. You´ll found also bus stop to the airport- which means you don´t need to take expensive taxies to go to airport.Bus region ticket costed 4€/one way and was quarenteed for 90minutes(!).Someones of Ava´s rooms has fridge on their rooms and you´ll can buy some food, drinks from the local supermarkets which are open from 7a.m. ´til 11p.m. from Monday to Saturday and on Sundays from 12 a.m. ´til 9p.m...The rooms are clean, there´s possibillities to go for sauna too.The views for countryside are lovely with its small cabins.silence Side of the city.I guess this hotel is pretty famous and that´s why it´s many times reserved.I will return!.Thank you Ava hotel staff for your help and professional reception ladies on the desk.

Honest three stars - poor, but clean, the room is nothing superfluous - but spend most it, as in Helsinki for a sum decent hotel, you will not find. Afflicts only paid wi-fi...but spend a night before flight to Europe - is OK. Have free parking

Avva Hotel is not really a hotel , it is hostel or dormitory with very modest accomodation. I think that people may be mistaken to pick this accomodation and to rely on this place to rest and to be in comfort.
There was no room service, no cleaning, no bathtub. Furtniture, bathroom etc - all is so cheap that the price per room should be 10 euro at the most.
It is very far from the city center, so it is worth to stay in the center with 20 euro price difference comparing to the SAS for example. The rate I took Avva was 63 EUR per night.
I would not recommend a breakfast there too. The area is quite boring to spend even an hour.
Please, think twice deciding on the stay with this dormitory.

When you go to AVA hotel in Helsinki don't expect anything fancy. It's quite basic hotel with small but quite clean rooms. The architecture and decoration in the hotel is simple and it looks a bit like an asylum inside. It doesn't have a 24h reception and if you check in during the night hours you have to contact the reception on how to enter your room. The personnel is speaking perfect English and they are quite helpful. It's quite far to walk downtown but it's near a big avenue were you can find a tram and bus station 50-60m from the hotel, were the 615 buses take you directly to the airport of Helsinki and you can use the trams to go to the city center. Nearby is also some small supermarkets, a pharmacy and a couple of restaurants but the area is basically residential.
So if you don't care about fancy things during your stay, AVA can provide a clean, basic acommodation in a very good price.

Nice place to stay. Perfect of a family; we had a small apartment with two double rooms (big windows, nice view, Flat-screen, desk, pretty quiet) and shared a small kitchen (microwave, water cooker, water basin, table, two chairs) and a small bathroom.
Thanks to the kitchen we could easily prepare a small breakfast for ourselves (there's also breakfast buffet for 15€ available). The bathroom was very small for four persons and (as usual in Finland) there isn't a separation between shower and the rest of the bathroom. Therefore the bathroom will be completely wet after one has showered.
There's a tram and bus station near the Hotel, you can easily get to the city center (about 15-20min).

as finnish person main reason for this was price level, which is not so nice when being in Helsinki, 2 nights for 46e/night basic single room at top 8th floor, so could have a go. positive was price and thats about all of it, did not have breakfast. not terrible, but basic. if you are light sleeper or with good hearing, it is not for you. room doors have been renovated recently, do not wonder why. this does not help much, mostly all the sounds coming from inside the building, paper walls, elevator noises blingbling etc. 2 small parking fields, if there is room, got stuck in the snow two times. bathroom goes back to 1960s like all the hotel being former place for students. for short stay with this price it goes, anyway would not like to spend there weeks

Searching for a cheap single room, I booked the Ava hotel. It is relatively close to Helsinki Central Station, approximately 5 bus stops, with very regular services. It is built next to a large park, which makes it very quiet and relaxing. I was delighted to find that the room I booked had two beds, which had a nice view of the park. All the necessary comforts were included.
Breakfast very good with good variety, staff smiling, polite and helpful.
I find it a good choice, as its price is quite friendly to the average European. I would go back with great pleasure.

Location: situated in a residential area. Quiet and green. Off the beaten track, but well connected. Close to tram stop. 15 minutes to the city center. There are shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby.
Room: Good-sized. Spacious. Quiet. Confy beds. The linen is good quality and new. Basic studio, with a mini fridge, tv, microwave and tableware. My room was on the 7th floor. Nice view. Curtains do not keep the light out. Rooms are serviced daily.
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast was above my expectations.
Staff: Friendly, polite and helful. They speak English to a good standard.
Bonuses: sauna and gym. Free wifi (sometimes a bit slow).
Drawbacks: Reception closes at 10 pm but they can arrange a late arrival, if necessary. The lift would always be full during peak hours.
All my requets were met. All in all, I had a pleasant stay.
An affordable option, worth considering. Prices are cheap by Helsinki standards.
