My wife and I opted for a two course evening meal . We made the booking on the recommendation from the Tourist office in town, that the restaurant provided good traditional French dishes with excellent fish dish options ( important as we are pescatarian). I enjoyed a well
Cooked sea bream dish with grilled vegetables and a cream sauce . My wife opted for a lentil based burger which to be fair was pretty heavy going but good fries to accompany. I enjoyed a lovely apple tart for dessert and my wife had an equally good nougat based dish to follow . The host was very welcoming which was a real plus point . I read somewhere that the restaurant whist providing good food did lack some ambiance and I would agree with this . The room was rather sterile in its decor with too many cold feeling lights to create an intimate atmosphere for evening dining . But overall a good choice restaurant .

This is a newly renovated restaurant with rooms. The food was varied and tasty.
The hotel room was spacious, clean and had a nice balcony.
During Sundays and Mondays the restaurant is closed and in our case room cleaning seemed to be closed to. However this was not too much of a problem once we worked out where to eat on those days.
Sainte Foy is situated on the rail line between Bordeaux, St Emillion one way and Bergerac and Sarlat the other so you do not need a car for short trips from here

Restaurant closed. Smell of cigarettes in the hallway. Doors are awfully loud. Can hear everything what's going on next door. Early in the morning (6 am) neighbors on the other side of the street shouting and blowing car horn. Old windows you can see the outside even when it's closed.

Good large beds. Just renovated (not even finished) hotel. Spacious room.

We visit St Foy usually on a Saturday morning when they have a large market

We notices the newly renovated Le Grain de Sel and decided to give it a try

The market menu at 18 is excellent value and the pork is especially tasty

Couple this with a carafe of local wine and you have a great lunch for a low cost

We have now had 3 meals here and not been disappointed

We like the outside terrace - especially in this hot wather

Even though this restaurant looks from the outside more like a bar, it has nice sidewalk terrace, where taking one's lunch is to be recommended. Guests are welcomed with a free drink, offered by the owner. The chef de cuisine worked formerly at a Michelin-star restaurant, and this fact really can be tasted! We had a 3-course lunch (menu du jour) with a nice starter, an excellent "sauté de veau" garnished with garden-fresh vegetables and a refreshing dessert. We also ordered a 1/2 l wine en "carafe" which also was good. Lunch was only 12.50 €, per person, the wine about 7 €. Composing your menu à la carate is slightly more expensive. Quintessence: best quality/price ratio of any restaurant in Sainte Foy. Practically all tables taken when we were there. However: dinner prices are more in relation to the quality offered: So have a look during lunchtime! Next restaurant to be "tested" is "Le huit" in Ste. Foy!

Went there with 2 other couples staying at local airbnb. We had beer, wine, hamburgers and a salad. English menu was helpful. Proprietor's English was helpful too. The hamburger are steaks they grind up and then grill as requested. Medium was still plenty red and very delicious. Comes with great frys. My wife had a gigantic chicken salad that was wonderful. She felt bad she could only eat about half of it. Easy, comfortable and we will probably go back before the end of the week.

Our daughter lives in Sainte Foy-la-Grande and we wanted a place to stay when we visited her. We'd picked out this hotel online and checked with her about local wisdom. This came out as the best place.

They have ten rooms on two floors above the restaurant. We were on the second floor. There are no lifts. However, I think the first floor rooms might be noisy, being the floor above the restaurant, on a main street in the town opposite a kebab takeaway and the rooms on the floor above have laminate flooring.

If I was picky, I would say that having a cycle in the entrance hall along with the tables that are stored when not in use on the street-side makes this a bit quirky and some of the decoration is a bit tired. However, they are big rooms, nicely furnished and with comfortable beds. We slept well. The purpose of these hotels is to provide a place to sleep. Consequently, we spent most of the time out of the room.

Breakfast is available in the restaurant at 7 Euros but we found a Boulangerie on the same street that opens each day at 6:30 where we could get coffee and a croissant for 2.80.

There are direct rail links from Sainte Foy-La-Grande railway station (a five minute walk away from the hotel) to Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Bergerac and The Dordogne at reasonable prices.

As long as our daughter remains here, we will continue to stay at the Victor Hugo.

Exactly what we wanted--perfect location in the middle of a sweet small village, great food, clean and pleasant rooms. Not a luxury hotel that separates you from the life of the place you are visiting and not a scummy cheap place either. Just perfectly in the middle.

We stayed for a night on a cycling holiday and were made very welcome by the new owners. It looked as if the rooms had been refurbished and they were certainly modern, spacious and clean. Although they were usually closed for dinner on Mondays they provided dinner at the pavement tables for our party of 14 and it was one of the best meals of the holiday. The dishes were traditional but with a twist and they tasted delicious.
The breakfast was in the large bar area and was generous, and the service from the staff was excellent. I would certainly stay again.

Spotless, budget style, big room accommodation with a very nice restaurant downstairs. Ћ hotel is at Ћ end of Ћ Main Street leading to Ћ market area. Ћ Saturday Market extends down this street. If visiting, try to avoid Sunday's and Monday's as a lot in the town (inc Ћ restaurant) are closed.
