My wife and I stayed here on our ring road trip around Iceland. I wanted to be at a hotel with a short drive to Jokulsarlon and you can't get much closer than this place. Our room was large and very nice. Lights by the...More
This little hotel is conveniently located right off the ring road, very close to the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and quite close to Skaftafell National Park.
Our room was near the water, spacious, clean and comfortable. There was a large common area in our building with...More
Among the five hotels and four airbnbs for our Iceland trip, this one was among the earliest ones decided, partly because it is close to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and partly because my wife surveyed the internet reviews to conclude that this one is a...More
Beyond the amazing setting on the eastern side of the island, the somewhat pricey accommodations and inflated dinner prices become tolerable as so enjoyable is the local catch (char). Our waiter for dinner was rude (he showed no effort to even attempt to be pleasant,...More

We travelled to Hali Comfort Hotel in January this year - in a hired Toyota Landcruiser. We had no problems - weather was not that cold - so we didn't have to deal with snow or difficult conditions. But I don't think this would have been a problem - may have slowed things down a bit
if it was snowing. We loved having our own car (we were seven) - it allowed us to drive to the glacier lagoon when we wanted - we drove out at night to see the Northern Lights - it was amazing! It is a long drive to do in one day, particularly if you stop at one or two waterfalls along the way - but completely doable - leave Reykjavik early in the morning. We stayed two night at Hali and then one night at Vik on the way back up to Reykjavik. We booked an ice cave tour separately from an operator that picked us up at Hali Hotel.
