Although hostel is based in the middle of nowhere, from dinning room (which had warm floor) you can see a nice view because all 3 sides have windows. In the rest room there was a lot of interesting games and some books that you can change (a place where to do your bookcrossing thing!) Also you can meet other travellers...

Perhaps it was in comparison to my other hostel experiences in Iceland (including the fantastic KEX in Reykjavik), but even heading into Vagnsstaðir Hostel with low expectations given it's location and relative clarity online of what would and wouldn't be provided, I was still pretty underwhelmed with the stay. It is tricky because there are few places between Glacier Lagoon...

The hostel is not that easy to find, especially in the dark. Once you make a turn where you assume to be the right place, you find yourself in a farm. When you check in, you learn you need to pay for sheets, which is fine, but it would have been nice to know that in advance. Do not dare...

The hostel is clean and in an absolutely great location on the south coast, with easy access to a lot of local attractions. The private room we booked was comfy and big enough for our needs, with (of course) spectacular views. However, it really suffers from popularity, particularly from big groups on organised tours, which puts a lot of strain...

This is a wonderful hostel in an amazing location, a short walk from the sea, with a friendly receptionist, just off the N1 road. As well as the usual there is a well-equipped kitchen, large dining area and common room. No problem parking, you're in the middle of nowhere!

It is our first hostel in Iceland so I don't have a comparison. I really like the area, the hostel is very close to the glaciers and the ice-lagoon.The building is very small and in the moment it is fully booked and quite noisy; nearly everyone is in the fully equiped kitchen and tries to cook dinner - but they...

We booked it because in Höfn everything was full. For just one night it is really okay. It's very narrow and noisy but the biggest minus are the ultra small showers! (just a few cm broader than my shoulders)

It was so difficult to find a decent place with space close to the Blue lagoon and the glacier walk and we accordingly were somewhat forced to use this hostel despite booking 5 months in advance. We got a small stand alone cabin but although cozy in itself, it was in many ways disappointing compared to the other places we...

We stayed here in mid-May 2016. The kitchen was sub-par, with a decent selection of cookware but only one stove top. However, the dining room was glass all around; there were wonderful views of the heath and the ocean in the far distance. We were only aware of 1 (?) bathroom, though perhaps there was another one upstairs that the...

The previous night we had stayed at a hostel where the wifi wasn't really working, so unfortunately, we hadn't reserved a hostel for our next night. Luckily, when we arrived they had one reservation left...it was the private cabin (with its own bathroom, whoohoo!) and had enough room to fit our motley crew of 5. The bunks were way more...
